Imagine an America where every major city from coast-to coast looks like Los Angeles. Sound far-fetched? According to author, syndicated columnist and conservative political commentator Pat Buchanan this is among the "coming attractions" our nation can look forward to in the coming decades. It is not a pretty picture. When I was growing up we were taught that the United States of America was the great "melting pot" where people of all races, religions and nationalities would come to assimilate themselves into the common American culture. For the most part these folks left native languages and most of their traditions behind. They were proud to become Americans. But as the result of the cultural revolution of the 1960's and some rather dubious legislation passed during that same decade the landscape has changed dramatically. The America that people of my generation grew up in is under seige and Pat Buchanan argues passionately that what is destined to replace it will be an unmitigated disaster. "Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?" lays out all of the pertinent facts for everyone to digest. This is an epic volume that is the culmination of Pat Buchanan's remarkable career commenting on the American culture and economy. Frankly, I just couldn't put this one down.Now I must confess that I have been a huge fan of Patrick J. Buchanan since I first discovered him on CNN's "Crossfire" and "The McLaughlin Group" in the early 1980's. As far as I am concerned he has been one of the few prominent political commentators with the courage to discuss the inevitable consequences of such dubious social and economic policies as NAFTA and GATT, the rush to multiculturalism and unchecked immigration. He has been spot on with his prognostications. Today we are dealing with the fallout from all of it. The thesis of "Suicide of a Superpower" is that America is disintegrating right before our very eyes and that it is probably too late to reverse it. So what do Americans have to look forward to?According to Pat Buchanan "America is being transformed into a multiracial, multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic stew of a nation that has no successful precedent in the history of the world." The United States now lacks a common culture and a set of values most folks can agree on. Our nation appears to be hopelessly divided on many different fronts. Racially, we are more segregated today than we were in the 1970's. What ever happened to Dr. Martin Luther King"s vision of the "Beloved Community" which was essentially "a completely integrated society, a community of love and justice wherein brotherhood would be an actuality in all of social life?" If we as a society claim to love "diversity" so much why has America turned its back on the dream of Dr. King and chosen to seperate and segregate themselves from each other? Pat Buchanan offers answers and insights in his chapter "The Diversity Cult" . Meanwhile, our nation seems to be hopelessly divided politically as well. Liberal Democrats seem to have no clue why those who identify with the Tea Party are so upset and simply dismiss them as people "who cling to their guns and religion." Likewise, those of the conservative persuasion cannot for the life of them understand why so many of their fellow Americans are in favor of illegal immigration, out-of-control government spending, gay marriage and abortion on demand. Buchanan predicts the Balkanization of America will continue in the decades to come and paints a rather ominous portrait of the consequences. We can expect to see a continued spike in the illegitimacy rate, more teen suicides, even more people living in poverty and an increasing threat of violence. Indeed, much of what we are beginning to experience here in America has been going on around the world for quite some time. All of this is covered rather extensively in a chapter called "The Triumph of Tribalism"."Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?" covers so much ground that it is virtually impossible to summarize it in a short review like this. Suffice to say that Pat Buchanan has left no stone unturned in his heroic attempt to define the colossal problems we are facing as a nation and in his effort to present possible solutions. This is an exceptionally well-researched book and Pat Buchanan can turn a phrase with the best of them. Hopefully, "Suicide of a Superpower" will ignite a much-needed national dialogue on these important and controversial topics. Very highly recommended!

The prophet of doom and gloom waxes eloquent as he describes the many variables that will eventually lead to the downfall of America. Mr. Buchanan takes a very long and hard look at the many factors that have changed in society from the 1950's when the USA was at its pinnacle of power to today, when even the smallest nations may do as they please contrary to the commands or wishes of the United States. In the course of the book, he has chapters that 1. first paint a picture of what's going on, 2. describes our loss of faith in God and the break-up of our churches, 3. focuses in on crises within Roman Catholicism that is weakening their stand in the US, 4. the loss of traditional white values and cultures and replacement by a nation of minorities, each with their own subcultures, 5. the international failure of the West and Japan/China to have children leading to the poorest nations and Muslim nations to ascend, 6. details of how the quest for "equality" has been so muddled that its only result is an overall loss of freedom, 7. how diversity as an ideology is confused thinking and is absolutely contrary to unity, and how this so-called quest for diversity has destroyed much of American cultural infrastructure, 8. internationally how each autonomous group now desires autonomy and nationhood, causing massive destruction of many of the nation-states of the world, 9. more details on the loss of white America, but in particular, Buchanan focuses on how the Republican party has been painted as the "white" party, even though the Democratic party has been the most racist of the two parties, 10. a focus on foreign policy and how it's failed us in the last 50 years, with an emphasis on our policy failure with NATO and the former Soviet Union and our need to get out of acting as the world's defender. The last chapter is spent with Buchanan suggesting what we could do to restore hope to our nation. Buchanan spends much time 1. discussing the issues of import tariffs, of which he makes an excellent point that it is vital to balance our trade status with what our nations do to us, 2. elaborating how the illegal immigrant issue has eaten the heart out of America, though illegal immigrants tend toward a more conservative base than the liberal think-tank that fuels national policy, 3. hinting at how judicial activism in the supreme court has destroyed our true sense of freedom. There are only a few points that I would emphasize differently from Buchanan. Buchanan realizes the importance of national faith in the Christian God, yet fails to say that precisely, discussing instead our loss of community values and church-going. The Scriptures, in discussing the reason for the fall of Israel and Judah, have a stronger focus on the loss of personal morality and loss of orthodoxy among the religious elite. Buchanan notes that the Catholic church rose to prominence in the early 20th century, and then took a downward course in the 1960's, blaming much of that downward course on the decisions of Vatican II. On this, I would disagree completely with Pat, since the American loss of faith started (as pointed out well by Francis Schaeffer) at the beginning of the twentieth century. The rise of Roman Catholicism in the 20's to 50's represents more a loss of faith and placation of the conscience by providing an easy religiosity, rather than a shift back to Rome for more traditional values. For the most part, Patrick Buchanan gets most everything correct, and this is a book absolutely worth reading to understand what is happening and what will happen to our nation and the world at large.

Well this book was an eye opener. I had thought along the lines of what Patrick J. Buchanan was writing about - and then I discovered much more. America is going to be a 'has been ' country unless it gets its act together. It's unbelievable really that such a great country,such a great superpower should come to this. Why? Well I could tell you and it concurs with what Patrick J. Buchanan thinks but I would highly recommend that you read this book and follow through with your own interpretation of what you think. It's not one thing but a collection of things that's brought that once great country to its knees. The founding fathers of America must be turning in their graves. It's with all this information and insight of this great author that this book NEEDS to be read- for what happens in America will surely follow here. Take note Great Britain. Five star recommended!

Impeccable condition and very good book. Patrick Buchanan makes one believe in Western Civilization once more. Go go Patrick !

An excellent book backed by factual information. The author wakes the reader up to reality. It's a "must read" for all Americans.

Coming from a small mono-ethnic town in Western-Europe I used to have no doubts about the truth as it was presented to me by all kinds of media at that time. It is still the truth for most western people: multiculturalism, interracial marriage, homo- and bisexuality, liberalism towards drugs are all cases that are fought for by honest intellectuals who want to create a better world. The so-called idealists.Moving to a city to study at university I gradually began to see the other side of all these so-called achievements in practice: criminality, violende, divorce, explicit promotion of perversity, prostitution, large-scale heroin addiction etcetera. The strange thing is: West-Europeans have learned to find all this completely normal.After being confronted with the other side of so-called liberal society, the thinking process starts. At first I tried to find the answer to the "why question" mostly in traditional rightwing politics. In Europe, unfortunately, the so-called rightwing does not differ fundamentally from the leftwing in fighting the excesses sketched above. In fact, it is all nearly the same! Except some so-called far-right parties, nearly every party in Western-Europe is pro gay-marriage for example! Living in the US nowadays I know that Republican and Democratic politics can differ to a much greater extent.But to the point: by experience, reading and reconstructing I went on answering the "why question", but with Kevin MacDonald's book a lot of pieces from the big puzzle fell into place. I know that I'm not the only one who has experienced great feelings of guilt on the way to finding the truth about certain sociological phenomena.From their youngest years most western people are subject to an ongoing stream of indoctrination that aims at forbidding to even think about certain facts or opinions. After reading this book nobody can deny that a lot of things presented as liberalism are just ways to divide and confuse Western man.This divide and conquer liberalism has nothing to do with freedom. From my experience in Europe I can say that jews there have many high positions in government, entertainment and other large companies. A lot of these functions have to do with promoting multiculturalism and shaping a nationwide and international thought police that is mostly called anti-racism.Although MacDonald's book is mostly focused on America, the presented theory holds for Europe as well.The most striking aspect of the whole book is the organized thought control by institutions who see in certain opinions a conflict with Jewish interests.This book is one of the biggest eye-openers available to everyone who is anxious to understand what exactly is going on in the Western world.

Even if you think you know, you will discover quite a few facts here that will make you reconsider your assumptions.Perhaps past generations were not optimistic about "the future", but it's hard to not see the doom and gloom coming looking at the numbers presented in this book.
