Buena Vista Social Club Bookpack - Deluxe

I am very pleased to have this Special Edition of Buena Vista Social Club. The book style CD cover is excellent and the cd's are tucked neatly into the book ends.Ry Cooder and ensemble are great.

When I saw this issue claims to be remastered direct from the tapes, I immediately ordered the record. It arrived the next day (on a Bank Holiday weekend!) which was extraordinary. But that is where my excitement ended unforunately.This is a very poor pressing.1) The sound quality is terrible - both LPs have lots of noise on both sides. At first I thought it was my cartridge, so I replaced it, I also cleaned the records but no - the clicks and pops didn't go away. They do become less noticeable when the songs unravel, but to be honest I own records much older than this that sound way, way better.2) The album cover looks as if it was printed on a inkjet printer. Like literally. The paper quality is awful and the entire artwork has been enlarged from a CD cover, which you can tell straight away, because of it's poor quality. This continues inside. The "new photos" are just screengrabs from YouTube videos. That's just embarassing.3) The sleeve don't have the foil window, it's just paper - they don't really protec the record as they should.The only two nice things about this position are the song lyric translations and the bonus songs.Overall a very disappointing buy, not worth the money. I'd pay £5 at most. Skip this and get the regular version instead.

If you’re looking for a superb vinyl version of Buena Vista, this is your chance. Really great job, dead quiet, heavy vinyl and mind blowing dynamics!
