Simple. Compact. Packed full of learning!
I really do enjoy the simplicity of this product. No screens, lights or crazy sounds. Yet moments into tinkering around with it together, my three year old daughter was *naturally* learning so much. Shapes. Colors. Spatial relation. Following directions. Problem solving. Abstract thinking and creativity. Even some math! It comes with a picture book that you can use to replicate their creations or you can freestyle and create something all of your own. It has kept her mind engaged and attention occupied. Some FYI’s:After purchasing from FatBrain on Amazon, I seen an identical larger version from Mindware for the same price at Target. I purchased this specifically as an on-the-go activity so despite paying the same for a smaller product, it is more compact and easier to travel with. This product fits into my diaper bag back pack with some room to spare whereas the larger one would not have. Also there are several pieces to this product. While they are magnetic, they are still easy to lose if they aren’t set just right on the board prior to closing it. The size of the pieces also can pose as a choking hazard. So for those reasons I would not let a toddler play unsupervised with this.UPDATE 04/23/23: Just wanted to pop in 3 years and another baby later to say that our board is still going strong! We’ve lost pieces along the way, but it shows very little wear and is just as functional and useful as the day we got it. It has proven very versatile. We’ve swapped out the magnets for ABC ones to practice letters and spelling, number magnets for math, gear magnets- you name it. We’ve also used it as a basic dry erase board for writing and my now 6 year old will stand it upright and use it as a dry erase board for her Barbie’s teaching lessons.

great toy for learning to match shapes and colors and fine motor skills
love how readily my child took to this - however, the matching booklet is small, flimsy, and does not match the quality of the case or magnets. for kids this age the booklet for matching shapes ideally would be larger and on card stock for durability. for that i give it four stars - was expecting something better from this company.
