Bought for my wife. She was full of praise for this book and it's on my to-read list.

Colin Smith has written a searching yet unexpected study of the journey of Jonah and compared his study to the choices and traumas that many Christians face..

Excellent book!

The one thing I can say about this book is that it is very thought provoking.It also opens your eyes to many different perspectives were Jonah is concerned, how it applies to today's world and our lives as we live it, and the salvation of Jesus Christ.I have so much highlighted in this book that most of the book is highlighted, but what it does give is perspective, a perspective to be confident in the salvation that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ that was given to us by God and how He loves us.I am amazed by how my eyes have been opened and all the worry about if I am praying enough, am I doing it right, and if I'm being a good enough Christian is answered. Because even though we struggle daily with the sin of this world... we can be rest assured because God has saved us.

Although it might be too early to say, and although this phrase is probably tossed around too freely, I think the future will show that this book changed my life. It certainly had a profound effect on my thinking about grace, which is surprising since I had thought I knew something about grace having just taught a lesson on Martin Luther! However, even after having thought that I knew something about God’s sovereignty and God’s grace, this book explained those concepts in such a way that I came away from every reading wanting to worship God. This book helped me understand God’s grace and sovereignty in such a way that it will surely affect my approach to prayer, Evangelism, teaching, etc., not to mention how it will affect my attitude toward both my own failings and those of others. This book revealed my own self-righteousness, and yet did not leave me hopeless. I must have highlighted something on almost every page and could easily have highlighted more. Do yourself a favor and read this book!

An excellent study on the Prophet Jonah. I have been in ministry over 50 years. I enjoyed this book and found some interesting challenges. This book will help any minister and any layman to gain a deeper knowledge of the prophet.

I have known the story of Jonah since I was a small child and as is always the case with God's Word the story brings fresh insight every time you read it. Colin Smith brings new insights that challenge both your understanding of the story and also how you view the ways that God intersects in our lives. From the beginning where we see the spiritual maturity of Jonah's life to the ending which isn't really about Jonah, each page brings new insight. It is a book to study, apply and pass on to a friend. Can't recommend it enough.

I have bought 3 books by this author. Living and loving for our Lord Jesus is a must. We all must follow his words and commandments. This reminds and helps. I bought in paperbacks just so that I can share it with the church.
