2010's "The Making of Pink Floyd The Wall" seemed like the definiteve book about the visual aspect of the whole Wall concept (album, tour, movie). This new book (2021), with new and bigger images (the landscape format helps a lot since no image is cut in half) is in a lot of ways different and better. The narrative is not chronological like the previous book, after a long introduction about other Scarfe and PF collaboration, "The Art of Pink Floyd The Wall" is presented in the order of the album's songs: Every track (including the complete lyrics) have images form the cover, the movie and the tours (sometimes including images form Berlin and the recent Waters' The Wall tour) and annotations. A lot of very ellaborate concept drawings and sketches are the highligh of this volume. 100% reccomended for any Pink Floyd / Scarfe fan.

What an amazing book. Might be a touch expensive but tbh worth every penny if you're a fan.

I watched the film back in 1982 in a cinema in Worcester. The soundtrack was LOUD. I left the cinema awestruck. I was 14 and at the time had never seen a movie that dealt with such a strong alienation. I "loved" the film, with the music/images/hatred/animation. It shocked me. I had never seen scenes of war showing Brits suffer. Indeed, The Wall movie contains the cheery boys of the Dambusters. The film has remained my all time favourite ever since.Now for this book. If like me you find the film a classic then you may wish to know some of the stories behind the album, concerts,film, Berlin 90 and the Tour 2010/11, but mostly the film.Gerald Scarfe chats with Nick Mason, David Gilmour, Alan Parker and of course Roger Waters in turn. Jane Scarfe (Jane Asher) was involved with the writing and editing of this 258 page (slightly larger than A4) book. The book is lavish, with many rare pictures and drawings included.If you are of a certain age then you may have seen "Arena - Scarfe on Scarfe" that only touched the surface of where this book goes.Thanks, Gerald for such a wonderful book on one of the most brilliantly depressing albums / film / concert (I was front row for Berlin'90).And well done on getting the others to add their comments to.Thanx for reading.

Superbe livre qui pèse son poids, illustrations magnifiques sur papiers de très bonne qualités, indispensable pour tous les fans du Floyd

A great book, of mainly art work, includes a foreword by Roger Waters. Excellent for ALL Floyd Fans. I ordered this first through Amazon UK, when it was first announced in 2021, but it was delayed several times, so I cancelled it, just before Christmas. Even though the price increased after Christmas, I was about to buy it at the full UK Price, (having been let down by an Ebay seller), I purchased it through Amazon.DE finding it nearly £50 CHEAPER, than Amazon UK were charging! A Bargain price (?) Just wondering why the huge amount of price difference?! The postage was only £6 from Germany and it arrived within TWO DAYS !!

画家のジェラルド=スカーフがピンク=フロイドの"The Wall"に協力した際の、絵画や写真資料が豊富に掲載された書籍である。The Wallは音楽アルバムとともにいくつものコンサート・映画に発展したメディアミックス作品群で、巨大な文化・商業事業ともなっている。そんな作品にスカーフはスケッチ・イラスト・絵画・アニメーションを提供したが、それにとどまらず、この作品に重要なインスピレーションを与えている。ピンク=フロイドの音楽作品が視覚化・映像化される過程で、そのインスピレーションがこの作品にさらに深みと広い世界観を加えていることが、この書籍で観ることのできる多くの資料によってわかる。　スカーフは独創的な画家であるとともに、実在の人物のデフォルメの仕方がぶっ飛んでいる。描かれた人物で自分の肖像画を笑って眺められる人は、かなり心が広いと言える程にすさまじく意地悪な絵である。　そんな彼の作風がThe Wallに合っていた。音楽アルバムは鬱的・狂気的・閉塞的であり、家族・戦争・教育・薬物に関する社会問題も扱っていて、そのままでは陰惨な雰囲気になってしまうところ、彼の絵がレコード盤のレーベルやアルバムジャケットに入ることによって、何とも言えない明るさが出ていると感じられる。もしもこの作品のジャケットのデザインをHipgnosisが担当していたら、かなり抽象的な表現になったかもしれないが、彼の（独創的で意地悪なデフォルメではあるが、）具体的でアニメーション的な絵が使われたために、作品の理解の手助けになったとともに、陰惨さが弱められ、独特のユーモアが付与された。　この書籍は、価格はやや高いが、そんな彼の貢献を知る資料としてのみならず、個性的な絵画作品として楽しめる。
