Its a great set. The only thing i did nit like was the thread holder. Not stable .

I have lots of sewing scissors, but I don't own and have never even tried any with the spring assist. I figured I couldn't go wrong with the Singer brand, so I ordered this set with a large pair of scissors, an awl and a seam ripper. The scissor are a good size and weight for me and the handles are comfortable. The blades are sharp and I found using the spring assist to be very easy and they did indeed make the task less fatiguing. I used them to cut through four layers of heavy denim and they cut through them cleanly and effortlessly. I like that the blades can be locked in the closed position for safety. I really needed a new seam ripper -- it is thin so it is easy to get under the stitches and it is very sharp so it cuts through them easily. The handle is light-weight but large and comfortable. What I don't particularly care for is the folding feature, as it a bit stiff and the stainless steel part seems a bit delicate. This just doesn't feel as durable as my trusty old (and very dull) seam ripper. I haven't used the awl, but it is sturdy and sharp and it seems as if it will be a useful addition to my sewing kit. Overall, I am most impressed with the scissors -- they are well made and seem to be of high quality & of course, they operate very efficiently. They definitely exceed my expectations, whereas the seam ripper and awl simply manage to meet them. The sewing kit is useful and the current price of $29.99 seems reasonable. I do wish it came with a case for storage.

This set of sewing tools is a great investment into your sewing hobby. The handles are comfortable and designed to assist in reducing fatigue when used for long periods of time. The tools themselves are sharp, yet easy to control.The seam ripper is incredibly smooth; it is capable of getting between the stitching and breaking the thread effortlessly and without damaging the fabric. The handle is comfortable to hold and the size is great for continual work. It is lightweight, plastic and hollow in the center for the storage feature. The metal portion of the seam ripper is attached to a locking wheel that can be rotated into the center for storage. This feature is useful and looks clean but you must ensure that it clicks back into position before using it as the seam ripper is sharp.The scissors are also very sharp and have great control due to the spring mechanism. They are capable of cutting many layers of fabric and/or thicker fabrics with ease. There is a locking portion that slides to hold the scissors together to prevent any accidental cuts when not in use. The handle is coated in a soft rubber that is comfortable to hold and eases the fatigue from constant use.The awl works but is not as sharp as I would prefer to have. It does make a good tool due to the handle and comfort in the design and rubber coating but this one has a bit of a bend at the end which I find doesn't create the hole as easy as I would prefer. Out of the three tools, this is the only one that is not one of the best I've had in terms of sharpness and ease of use. However, just as the other two, this one does have an ergonomic design that my other tools did not have.All in all, this trio of tools are a fantastic value for the cost. You will be using these tools often in your sewing hobby so it is worthwhile to get this set; it works well and the tools are comfortable to use for long periods of time. They also store well and are easy to locate due to the color contrast on the handles. I would definitely recommend this set.
