Camp Chef Dutch Oven Carry Bag - Carry Bag for Dutch Oven Accessories & Camping Gear - 12"

*UPDATE* - Took this camping and loved it, worked perfectly and was super sturdy! Loved the padding because I knew my iron was safe in transit and at the camp site. I'll probably be buying a few more*Fits my 12in campfire Dutch nicely and seems to have a very sturdy construction. After reading the previous reviews I decided to add 2 layers of cardboard to the bottom of the tote. I also made little cardboard feet protectors to keep them from punching through the cardboard and the tote. My Dutch has particularly narrow and sharp feet so I figured a little prevention would keep the tote from getting destroyed.After adding the cardboard, it keeps the bottom very flat when the Dutch is in it, no feet protruding through.

I have 6 Dutch Ovens (right now), and have 3 Camp Chef bags, 2 Lodge bags (new padded design) and a Sportsman's Warehouse store branded bag (my second favorite bag behind the Camp Chef bag). I've looked at other makers bags (Cabela's / Bass Pro Shop) branded bags, and a few others. Most bags are unpadded like the old Lodge bags. The new Lodge bags have padded bottoms and sides, but the lids are unpadded. These Camp Chef bags are bigger in diameter than the competitors bags as well which I really like since I can put a couple galvanized feed pans (for use as coal pans) in the bottom of the bag to prevent the feet from poking through, and store a pair of welding gloves in it as well. They're also tall enough for Deep Dutch ovens to fit in as well. If you're looking for a high quality bag with a consistently affordable price, look no further than the Camp Chef bags!!

I bought all three sizes to outfit my collection of Dutch Ovens (none of which are Camp Chef brand). I chose this brand on the basis of the reviews and am very pleased with my purchase. No more scrubbing up the oven every time you want to use it. The handle tabs on my ovens are wider than the "bag fits ovens" sizes but do fit with a little room to spare. I bought this because I needed an inexpensive but sturdy case to protect my camping gear from being banged and crushed by my dutch oven. The 12 inch bag fits my Lodge 12 inch Dutch Oven perfectly - and I have the deep dish Dutch Oven (there is a shallower size a friend of mine has that would also fit, of course.)I'm going to follow other reviewer's suggestion of placing a thin circle of wood in the bottom to give the bag some sturdiness. As of right now the bag distorts when you carry it by the handle (think cast iron in a trash bag) and it seems as if the feet on the bottom of the dutch oven may eventually wear through. It would be rugged as a bull with a thin wood liner in the bottom though!I'm pleased with the construction and quality, especially for the price. I was able to use a white paint pen on the inside of the canvas-like fabric lid flap to write our last name without it bleeding through to the front, which I also appreciated. The padding is pretty ample and should last for years of use!

I only just got it so it's hard to tell how long the zippers last or otherwise how sturdy it is. The dutch oven, 12", slipped right in and it's an easy carry. I also liked the padding so it does not clank into other items in the camper storage.

Great for storing kitchen supplies

I have the  2-Pc. Camp Chef 25th Anniversary Cast Iron Set  which is a 12" dutch oven and 12" skillet combo. I can fit the dutch oven and skillet in this bag. I just zip the zipper closed around the handle of the skillet and leave that sticking out. The bag is very sturdy and I expect many years of service from it.Many other reviewers have said that they put the lid at the bottom of the bag and then cut a piece of wood to fit on top of the lid so that the legs of the dutch oven don't scratch the lid. I put the lid on the bottom of the bag but instead of cutting a piece of wood I ordered  Shepherd Hardware 9117 1/2-Inch Rubber Leg Tips, 4-Pack  which fit perfectly on the legs of the dutch oven and will keep them from scratching the lid. Much less work! I'll simply remove them when it is time to use the dutch oven and then put them back on when I put it back in the bag.

I bought a Lodge 12 inch Dutch Oven and wanted a Carry Bag to protect and to make transporting it easier. All my cast iron is Lodge because I find the quality great and it is made in USA. I was going to buy the Lodge Carry Bag but read the reviews on the Camp Chef. I am glad that I listened because the Camp Chef is a well made padded bag that fit my Lodge DO perfect. I don't get why people put the DO in the bag first with the feet on the bottom when all you need to do is put the cover with the handle up first and then the DO on top with a small cloth separating the two so the legs don't scratch the top.

Personally, I find the construction and padding on the Camp Chef bags is the best I have cone across and a better price. Important to note that it is not for deep (5 or 6 inch) camp Dutch ovens, just the standard ones (4 inch).
