Amazing IPS monitor for the price, but not without its small issues
I was in the market for a new monitor to replace my 20" one I have had for a few years. I play some games on my computer mainly MMO's. While doing some research I stumbled upon this monitor and it checked all the boxes for everything I need:Pros:24" Larger Screen: CheckIPS Monitor: CheckLow Response Time (8ms): CheckAbility to be Daisy-Chained: CheckReasonable Price: CheckThe bezel is extremely thin so when I have my two monitors side by side there is no large gap between the two. The connection ports are DisplayPort, Mini Display Port, and HDMI which may cause issues for those with VGA or DVI connections, but a simple DVI to HDMI cable to fix that issue. My GTX780 had both an HDMI and DisplayPort so I did not have any issues with that. Monitors were extremely easy to setup.Cons: However the downsides to this monitor are here:All of these are noted on numerous Dell and computer forums1. With an NVidia GPU, the monitor is detected as TV and thus does not set a full range of colors. (There is a review by PCMonitors in which they provide a download for a tool that fixes this issue and allows it to be detected with full range of colors.)2. Daiy Chaining was problematic with the supplied cables. Simply put the Dell cables are awful, They provide a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable which only works when it wants to, it kept dropping signal when the cables were wiggled and I even checked the connections and they were firm. (Fixed the issue by order two DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables)3. Initially the Daisy-Chaining would work, but then when the computer was put to sleep it would fail to detect the monitors and would go into power saving mode. (Fixed with the DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables). As you can see there are some issues with the monitor, but I was able to rectify them with the download tool and buying two new higher quality cables and not using the MiniDisplay Port which I did not like. These small issues and having to buy two new cables is what kept me from giving in a 5 star rating. Overall, this is an amazing monitor and I would recommend it to anyone for the price and the features especially if you have a new GPU with the HDMI or DisplayPort connections.

Perfect for Multi-Monitor Setup
I picked up 8 of these to use in our new office expansion. Originally, I was going to use 2 for myself in a multi-mon setup; but, I didn't realize that Dell changed the resolution from their older Dell UltraSharp U2412M Monitors .I know the wide-screen displays are nice; but, I think Dell is making the aspect ratio wider and wider to cut down the number of pixels (i.e. cost) in each screen size. They've done the same thing with some of their other new models.Having said that, this is still a very nice display:1) The screen quality is excellent for an office monitor.2) The new AC511 Soundbar that fits this monitor is much better than the older sound bar - and no longer seems as prone to that irritating interference 'hiss'.3) The small bezel makes this great for multi-mon setups. They really do look great mounted to a Dual-Monitor Stand .If it weren't for the smaller vertical resolution, I'd be using these myself; but, I'd rather stick with the older models. I suspect most programmers would probably agree with me.Having said that, I know a lot of people don't care as much about vertical resolution - and I think this is a great choice if you fall into that category. It's also a great value when you look at the quality.

Back-light bleed and the first Dell monitor I've ever returned
I tend to stick with Dell monitors as my choice for LCDs. The two monitors I currently have are both Dells, a 2007 and 2408 WFP. Great monitors, but I've been shopping around for a replacement for the 20 inch. With my previous experience with Dell and friend recommendations, I chose the U2414H. I've been told IPS monitors are great and have top notch image quality. However, I've also heard stories from people about back-light bleed. The monitor is slightly smaller than my 2408 vertically and a little wider horizontal, and it only goes up to 1080P. I'm not sure why that has become a trend, but you lose a noticeable amount of screen real estate compared to 1920x1200. Also, with the two sitting side by side I noticed a stark color difference. I thought the U2414H had some tremendous glare on the screen, as the black portions of the monitor were nowhere near black. The closest was a dark grey. Other corners had orange or blue tints to them. They were Subtle, hence why I thought it might be glare from lights in my room. This was not the case. No amount of calibration or adjustments to the brightness or contrast would get black to be anywhere near the black of my old monitor. All of the colors looked bleached as well. I turned out the lights and switched my monitor to an all black screen it it was clear that there was back-light bleed. Just a ridiculous amount. I took a photo with both monitors on showing only black and sent it to the friend who recommended the monitor. He apologized and asked for a comparison with my old monitor. I said it was to the left of the new one, and he told me he didn't even know one was there. The 4 USB 3 ports are all on the underside in a nook with the other inputs. There is one lone ranger USB on the back pointing out perpendicular to the monitor's back surface. It's a little odd. All of these aren't readily accessible, so the only real use case I see is for permanent USB devices. I don't' know who's hooking in USB 3 backup drives into their monitor, but it's there if you want. All of the buttons are touch based, not physical, and are rather unresponsive. Navigating the OSD menus to try to solve the brightness issues was a hassle. Dell does let you download a program to modify these settings from your computer, but there is also a weird latency in the various sliders it offers.Overall, not great. I'm willing to accept that this panel is an exception to the quality. Like I stated before, I tend to have good experiences with Dell monitors, but this was not the case. I'm currently looking at the ASUS PA248Q as a replacement once I get my refund on this.

Apple Mac users be aware
Arrived promptly and well packaged. The assembly process is very simple indeed, no tools required at all. There are enough positive reviews out here on Amazon UK so I will not repeat myself. But one advice for Mac users who are considering this monitor. If you have an 2017 iMac (maybe the same for all Macs with USB-C) and running latest macOS High Sierra, then you probably better off buying a USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) to DisplayPort cable to force the RGB output. There is a workaround if you decide to go down the HDMI route, but that will require quite a bit messing around default security settings and code tweaking. RGB gives a clearer text display on the screen, HDMI uses YUV colour space slightly better for movie/video but texts may appear a bit fussy/blurry. Despite subtle difference on this screen size, it’s worth thinking in advance.

Good monitors - particularly for multi screening.
I ordered three of these monitors to replace slightly smaller free-standing displays of different makers, using a triple arm stand. There were two main improvements that I was looking for - the same colour balance across all three monitors, and a narrower bezel between monitors (giving the semblance of one wide screen). These monitors perform brilliantly, coupled to a Geoforce 970 graphics card. The rear mountings conform to VESA specifications so that you can simply bolt on a third party monitor stand if you choose, dispensing with the stands supplied with the monitors. I originally daisy chained the three monitors using a single Displayport connection; however, as other reviewers have found, the Dell monitors seem to treat this connection rather oddly even after you have set each monitor to identify itself as instructed, and there were a number of problems with this configuration. I eventually resorted to 3x HDMI connections (this depends on what your graphics card offers, of course) and this sorted matters entirely. If you have a Geoforce card then the monitors can then be managed collectively through Nvidia Control Panel 3d settings.Initially I found that all three monitors displays were "warm" - white appeared as cream, if not yellow. Minor tinkering with each monitor control sorted this - start by adopting the basic "movie" setting for a paper white background. What I also found was that there is very little reflection off the monitor screens - excellent! To me your monitor and keyboard must be right. They are the interface with your computer. A few weeks now with these monitors installed has me very pleased with their performance, and well worth the small premium I have paid over cheaper units available. Whether it's creating a giant workspace (three spread sheets can be happily accommodated and worked on, or you can have various documents on the go to cross reference), or widescreen gaming, these monitors won't disappoint.

Excellent Monitors - NB to check your graphics card settings for best HDMI results
Excellent monitors. Can be fully calibrated, good pixel pitch, low latency and sharp. Bit bright out of the box, but once calibrated they give an excellent image. NB anyone trying to get accurate sRGB colours via HDMI you need to ensure your graphics card is set to use the full range of colours 0-255 on each RGB channel. A lot of NVidia cards are not - they use a cropped range natively circa 35-235 IIRC and you need to do a fiddly registry hack (or easier just download the available tool: browse online for "NV_RGBFullRangeToggle"). Having done this the contrast ratio went from a very washed-out 271:1 to 970:1 with all the proper black depths I was expecting based on tech site reviews. AMD cards have a simpler option in the driver utility to select full colour range but do ensure you do this.Viewing angles are excellent, - wide as expected, and the thin bezel makes a multi-monitor set-up very easy.Good connectivity - 2xDP+link for daisy-chaining and 2xHDMI, plus audio out for a soundbar, and they also have a USB3 hub built into them which I hadn't appreciated when I ordered. Nice touch. If you're put off by the lack of DVI I'm running one screen off a DVI port via a DVI-D to HDMI cable and it is working fine (so long as you're not after audio - which I'm not).

Great Screen
Dell UltraSharp U2414H: Great quality screen, worked straight out the box and comes pre configured for colour and lighting (it has a little calibration certificate that comes with it from the factory). I've heard of other Dell screens where people sat for hours tweaking the calibration to get it just right, so this was great. While there are cheaper 24 inch screens available, even from Dell themselves, I would recommend this screen simply for the clarity of the picture, the input options for the screen, the easy adjustable screen tilt and height, and the quality. I have an older 24 inch Dell screen I use for gaming, and it has reflection issues. This new screen doesn't have this terrible reflections issue, so my wife can use it all day by the window without hassle. While the horizontal-to-vertical spin option is a bit gimmicky, I think the rest of the screen is great, and I'll be buying another sometime down the line I think to replace my screen, or to use as a second one. PS: There are accessories for this screen that allow it to be mounted on walls, or to dual screen on one base etc.

It's a great display, very little backlight bleeding and the colours ...
This was my first IPS display that I have actually bought myself however I have used IPS displays before and I know a little about display technology. It's a great display, very little backlight bleeding and the colours are fantastic. There are only four problems I have with the display and that is that the buttons are touch screen and they don't work all that well in the dark, proper buttons would have been better and made more sense. The corners of the display press in a little which is fine because the borders are quite thin but still it just feels wrong. And the DisplayPort 1.2 function for some reason doesn't work with my 680 which is compatible with 1.2 DP. Oh yea and it would have been nice if the USB hub could have charged stuff when the PC is turned off. Other then that I have no problems. One last problem is that over HDMI you need to use the colour fix on Nvidia cards, but you should be using DP instead anyway. The good things are the stand is excellent, the colours are great, the USB hub is a wonderful feature, the borders are slim. Good sharp crisp image, good backlight, no backlight bleeding, no dead or stuck pixels.
