First, the customer service we received was phenomenal! Our spinner came damaged which is never a good first impression, but they responded so fast and then went above and beyond to rectify it, and I truly can't say enough about how impressed I was to see that kind of service.Now on to the spinner, the "knife", and the storage container.1) The Spinner's stainless steel bowl is solid and very sturdy and can easy double as a mixing bowl or serving bowl since basket and basket holder lift out leaving a nice flat bottom. Also, though the bowl doesn't have any type of silicone or sticky coating on the outside bottom, the position of the handle and gearing inside spins it so fast that it stays balanced and easy to hold with your other hand without needing any extra coating. Even without the next two bonus items it was a great bargain!2) The plastic "knife" is not something we are using. We breakup our lettuce by hand, and use a nice metal knife for veggies anyway... still , I can't complain about something for free :)3) Lastly, the storage container. It is awesome! We have blue Tupperware containers with vents and ripples on the bottom that we have used for years and though they do great with veggies, with very juicy fruits they end up sitting in their own juices after only a couple days. The storage container that came with this does just as good a job with veggies as our old ones, but with fruits this container is hand down better because of the greater separation between fruit and drippings. Excellent addition to the great Spinner!Overall, the Spinner is a 5 out 5 for us, as is the storage container, but I really wish I could give the customer service a 10 out 5. Definitely a great purchase!

Pros and Cons (Based on my personal opinion.1. Item came with a free plastic knife cutter (green) and a mystery free gift that I was not aware was included, a vegetable keeper (also green).2. The bottom part of the spinner is stainless steel and strong/good quality.3. Product was shipped within a larger box and well packaged. All Items made the trip.4. Shipped quickly (within 1 week or less) (out-of-state).5. Spinning basket spins on a plastic plate, all are removable for washing and metal bowl can be used to serve your salad.Con's1. Spinner basket is a little smaller than I expected and can hold around 1 head of Romaine lettuce with some other cut up vegetables.2. Top of spinner does not lock when spinning so you have to hold the top down and turn the handle (multi-tasking).3. There is no water spout or opening to pour the water out, therefore it requires that you have to remove the lid every time you discard the water.

The biggest problem with this spinner is that you can't hold it down and turn the crank to spin it at the same time without the lid slipping out from under you. Especially if your hands are wet - and they will be if you are washing salad. I had to push the spinner up against a wall while angling my hand so that I didn't smash my thump with the crank. The result was wet lettuce every time. Also, the handle on the crank popped off and the basket inside became cracked within the first week. I'm keeping the base because it makes for a good serving bowl and the salad storage container isn't bad. However, as a salad spinner this thing falls flat.

I have used the spinner a few times now and I like the way it works. I have been using a string controlled spinner for years and many, many times the string flew back on my hand which hurt...a lot! This spinner does a good job and the bonus salad/vegetable keeper really keeps the lettuce crisp. That will save money with less waste...no more soggy rotting lettuce! The stainless steel bowl is well made and nice enough to use as a serving bowl!

This has held up so much better than even the much more expensive plastic salad spinners I've had in the past. Normally the plastic ones either crack or more frequently they lose their shape in the dishwasher (even when they say "dishwasher safe") and then the lids no longer fit. I haven't had that problem here - it just works and it works well which is all I really want from a product like this that is supposed to make life in the kitchen easier.

This item is pretty - I love the stainless steel bowl, Ilove the salad keeper and the knife, but the spinner itself just doesn't work well. I find myself f frequently frsustrated while using this item. My spinner came disassembled and without directions. I half wondered if it had been used and returned, without all parts. the top has 2 parts - one that you use to spin the bowl and one that you need to connect with that part, then connects with the bowl itself, This last part falls off so frequentely, I feel I do not ever get a good spin on my lettuce.I am very disappointed with this item and wish I have purchased a different spinner.

I ordered this after the plastic bowl on my Cuisinart salad spinner broke. I wanted a metal bowl, as I thought it would be more sturdy. Unfortunately, the "spinning" part doesn't work as well. The top easily detaches from the bowl it is spinning, as there is no mechanism for locking the lid to the bowl. When working properly has a terrible squeak. It does not spin as fast and is harder to control. I would not buy again.

The spinning mechanism is ineffective. The bowl size is too small. There is one part that you need at the bottom of the bowl that is annoying, and not needed in OXO models.
