Maximum Hearing Protection Without Any Loss In Communication.SensGard presents a smarter way to protect your hearing while improving communication. Unlike bulky earmuffs that block out voices, inferior disposable plugs, or expensive electronic noise cancellation devices, SensGard provides powerful, uninterrupted protection at an affordable price.ZEM Sound Reduction Chamber Technology — How It Works. The patented ZEM Sound Reduction Chamber Technology combines physics with physiological precision. Soft earbuds of the SensGard form a seal around the ear canal channeling sound through its unique Reduction Chambers. Since sound energy travels the path of least resistance, high-intensity sounds, like gunfire, funnel into the wider Sound Reduction Chambers and away from narrower ear canals. The chamber instantly dampens, refracts and effectively cancels harmful waves to produce a safe volume across all frequencies so you can hear important sounds or communication without ever removing your SensGard.University Developed. Backed by Science.Designed by Dr. Jozef Zwislocki, world renowned Neuroscientist and Founder of the Institute for Sensory Research at Syracuse University. He and his team developed ZEM Ear Chamber Technology to create a simple, yet powerful hearing protection device. Backed by decades of experience in the fields of sensory research, ZEM Technology was developed with the highest standards of hearing protection and user comfort in mind. The Result?A lightweight, compact solution that intelligently balances safe and dangerous sound levels, so you can hear what you need — and stay safe from what you don’t.Save your hearing. Protect it with SensGard.

Fantastic hearing protection.
The SensGard SG-31 is amazing!I put them on and they fit just fine; you do want to remember to rotate them so the cushions go into your ears.I then turned on, IMHO, the worst noise equipment in my shop; the 6 HP shop vac and the sliding miter box saw; their high pitch just kills me.Well I could hardly hear them, which was fantastic! My comparison is 3M Peltor Extreme ear muffs that I have been using for years. The SensGard SG-31 are much quieter and the upside is they will work better with glasses, face shields, respirators, hats, etc. The option to purchase replacement foam cuffs is an advantage also. They are cheap enough I am going to buy more and give them as presents to my wood and metal working friends.

Flimsy Part
These earphones receive various reviews for different reasons. My concerns are not with the headset's ability to block shooting noises. For everyday use and convenience, Sensgard has a fine product with a stellar design. I have been using this product for nearly a decade under various non-shooting scenarios and it works excellently overall. I wonder if some people who complain are not heeding the instructions to drop the headphones down and forward a quarter turn and then fix them overhead? This move is critical to achieve maximal protection. My gripe is that I had one pair for about five or seven years until they broke. I cannot complain. The second pair, while used much less, did not last two years. The arched piece of plastic that allows for size adjustments is thin; in this case, it was too thin as it snapped when I took the headset off. Sensgard should make this piece sturdier. It is very flimsy to the touch and visually. After several failed attempts to superglue the pieces, I gave up trying. I have already bought another pair as this design of hearing protection is unique, in that is is only moderately intrusive to the ear, extremely versatile, and works very well. Yes, standard muffs can be taken on and off easily too, but they are larger, clumsier, do not work well in the summer heat, and cannot be adjusted to regulate how much sound is blocked. Foam plugs work well when fit properly, but they offer a largely "either/or" situation. And they are quite intrusive. This set is my go-to arrangement because the design (other companies make a very similar set) is without parallel. Also, I admittedly took them off with one hand, and thus strained the plastic part, I always do this and they never broke. Sensgard: please make the plastic piece that enables adjustment stronger/thicker because your product is otherwise excellent. Thank you.

Excellent hearing protection
I have two sets of this brand/design of hearing protection. What I love about them is how small they are and how compact they can be when folded. It's almost as small as a pair of eyeglasses. They comfortable to wear and do not interfere with the use of a rifle, unlike conventional ear muffs. They have foam ear inserts and the frame is made of plastic. They can adjust to any size, too. What is most amazing is how they block out noise from shooting rifles and magnum revolvers. I have only shot 44 Magnum, 454 Casull, and 357 Magnum revolvers, which can have some of the loudest reports from a barrel. I have not tried it with my Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum, but I am sure it will be more than adequate. The only con is that you really should not share this with anyone since it actually going into the outer margin of the ear canal. It still allows voices from conversation to pass through, somehow. Only time will tell how durable these will be in the long term.I have one set for shooting at home and one for the gun club.Highly recommend this.

My New Go-To Ear-Pro!
These work very well for me. On our last range trip my wife and I fired 70 rounds of .357 and about the same of 9 mm. Subjectively, they seemed comparable to both the Walker electronic and David Clark passive muffs I usually wear. Comfort wise, they took a bit of getting used to but after an hour or so I nearly forgot they were in place. Muffs have never bothered me; David Clark "ears" were constant companions on the USS Enterprise flight deck and NAS Lemoore and Cubi Point flight lines for over three years during the Vietnam War, but I've never been comfortable with "foamies" twisted into my ear canals. With the SG-31's I followed the package instructions to place them on my head, then rotate them forward 1/4 turn and back to the top to seat them. After firing five rounds of .357 from my Rossi Ranch Hand to establish a baseline of effectiveness, I rotated them to the rear so they brushed my shirt collar, as a friend wears his. This worked as well as the over the head position for me and I continued wearing them that way for the remainder of the range session. There was no interference with my eye-pro in either position, but back of the neck allowed me to wear a wide brimmed hat rather than a baseball cap which doesn't keep the sun off my ears and neck. While normal sounds weren't as audible as with the amplified Walker muffs they were much clearer than with passive muffs. I could hear my wife as long as she was facing me and spoke clearly, and semi's passing on I-15 behind the range were audible. These may work better for some people than others, depending on individual physiology, but they are my go to ear-pro from here on out.

Truly revolutionary
I've used hearing protection of all sorts for over 30 years. These are different. The amount of noise reduction is incredible given the lack of bulk. At first I found the spring pressure that holds the plugs in a bit uncomfortable, but then I realized how well they work and I decided to stick with them. They fold small enough to fit in my apron pocket but they will also hang on your neck without your realizing it until you need them. They don't interfere with my safety glasses (and vice versa). As a cabinetmaker I can't afford to be without hearing protection. I've had these almost 2 years and I won't go back voluntarily.
