Suitable for children aged 3+
I bought this for my 2 year old niece as the description only states it is suitable for toddlers. Toddlers range from 2 - 3 years old. However the box the mat comes in clearly states suitable for children aged 3 + because of a choking hazzard due to small parts. Product description needs to state 3+ as opposed to just toddlers.

Missing percussion
I think this is a good playmat but I think it is on the more expensive side of over £20. That being said, if it turns out it lasts a really long time, then it is probably worth the cost. The playmat requires 3 AA batteries – not included. This is disappointing when you consider the price tag. On the other hand, it was good to see that the battery compartment is held securely by a screw. I did find that the batteries are a very tight fit and, when removing them, had to use a blunt knife to prise them out of the compartment. The box is bright and appealing. It is quite thick and the mat easily folds inside which is ideal for storage. Clear instructions are included. This mat is not washable but it does have a surface that I would happily wipe down if necessary. You don’t need to tread heavily on this but I did find the mat was quite slippery when in socks – watch out with little ones. The volume key on this mat is essential! The volume is decent, even at the quietest of levels – and certainly required when you have a cacophony of noises coming from it.I found the mat was straightforward to use and my children had no issues working it out. The plastic console on the middle does light up but I think it would have been helpful if there was a ‘power on’ LED indicator as well. Therefore, the plastic console is quite limited and flashes depending on what mode you have selected.Although there is a good range of instruments, I think percussion is needed to make this perfect. This could have been added as buttons to the middle console. I was, however, surprised that this has a ‘Record’ mode, adding another play level to this mat. With adult supervision, I think children younger than 3 years would probably enjoy crawling over it. It feels quite well-made but I can see it eventually wearing out after plenty of foot-bashing. In terms of size, it is not too big so doesn’t take up too much floor space. You can fit two children on it at once. This is a good toy and I think it would be great for parties. My criticisms are based on the lack of percussion instruments and that there is not a light to show the mat is switched on. I like this visual when I am rushing past as it isn’t always easy to tell from an on/off switch.

Good fun! Can you stand the noise?
This is a very large toy, you will need a room with at least 6’x2’ of clear space to lay it down, preferably more. You will also need to be prepared to wipe the mat after use to keep it hygienic. Finally, you will need to keep a supply of AA batteries as this is not a mains rechargeable unit. After a while the noise will drive you mad! That’s the disadvantages out of the way. On the plus side, this is a lot of fun. Most children and older folks too will enjoy having a play around with the notes and different instruments. We have a piano at home so the appeal is less, my son is also a Grade 8 violin player so this is a little basic for us. We have gifted it to a dear friend with a big house and young grand children with whom this has gone down a storm. On balance I think it’s better kept at granny’s because it would be a but much for mum to cope with for long and having only weekend access to it makes it keep its novelty value for longer. At £35, it’s not cheap but it does come in an attractive box for gifting and may help encourage musical talent at an early age. A mains rechargeable battery would be better.

Reasonably Good Piano Mat, but a Little Expensive for the Quality
We ordered this piano mat for our youngest granddaughter, who was initially fascinated with the ability to play various notes by simply walking up and down a multi-coloured mat, and then became a bit of a recording artist in her own right (with the record and playback features). The mat is reasonable quality, it's non-slip to a certain degree, and it can be easily cleaned with sanitising wipes, however, the centre console appears to be cheaply manufactured from plastic, which may lead to longevity issues.£21.99 (when ordered) is a little on the expensive side, similar quality mats are available for under twenty pounds, so it might be prudent to have a good look around Amazon before parting with your money. Also, bear in mind that the mat is powered by three AA batteries (which are not included), so if you are considering a purchase, you might want to stock up on batteries to avoid any disappointed faces when they open the box.

Fun
The media could not be loaded. My son loves the BUBHFYT Musical Keyboard Floor Piano Mat. He’s been stomping around on it for ages. I’ve had a few goes on it and obviously, if you’re of a certain age there is no way you are not going to pretend to be the kid from Big.The piano mat is simple to use, requiring 3 AA batteries, not included. Once you turn the switch on the rest of the controls are on the mats. You can record and playback the tune, change instrument, 8 to chose from, change volume and play demo music.
