Very Impressive Good Quality Clamps
Finally the day has come when I am able to give a Silverline product a 5 star review!! Having tried several of their products in the past they are usually of terrible quality but they were the only company selling bar clamps in this price range so I bought four of them expecting to have to modify them.... but delighted to report these are really very good.As a woodworker you can never have too many clamps and I have quite a lot of projects on at the moment and needed another four to add to my collection and not wanting to remortgage my home to pay for them I opted for these given they are a fraction of the price of some others on Amazon. No reflection on Silverline or the clamps but for some reason Amazon decided to dispatch all four of these as separate parcels and each of them arrived wrapped in a bin liner which offered no protection so I expected them to be damaged as a result of the lack of packaging but they stood up well to the delivery process even with no protection so I am really impressed at that. All four of the clamps are nice and straight, they look and feel well made and they work beautifully so definitely very pleased with my purchase. So far they have been used to glue up edge to edge pine, oak and walnut and they deliver a impressive clamping force that is even / equal across the wood. I would even admit that these are easier to use that some of my clamps that cost four times the price of these so I really am staggered at how good these clamps are. I even accidentally dropped two of them from a height of about 4ft onto a concrete floor and they didn't even flinch.Just in case these are your first clamps be sure to add scrap wood between the clamping faces / heads (the blue bits) and your workpiece as with all bar / sash clamps the clamp faces with mark / dig into the wood so by using scrap you don't damage your workpiece.

Shorter than advertised
These clamps are light duty and flimsy but that is something that can be enforced. They are miss advertised as 600 mm but in fact that is total length of the clamp and not the clamping capacityThey are actually only 500 mm clamps.User reply to my question was not very professional.Photos show the 100 mm difference between these clamps and other 600 mm clamps I have.

Great, but beware wasteful packaging.
A great price considering many people are selling almost identical products elsewhere online for ridiculous prices. For the price I paid from Amazon at around £8 each it’s great. It’s light, easy to use, and if it’s to be used for heavier duty clamping Paul Sellers has a video on YouTube that shows how to strengthen and reduce the flex of the aluminium section which is a U shaped extrusion and open along the back. I bought 4 of the shorter 60cm/2’ version so I’m not sure if I’ll bother with this measure yet.My one complaint is with Amazon rather than Silverline, I ordered 4 clamps at the same time, so why they felt it necessary to pack them individually in huge boxes is beyond me (see photos). All 4 would have fit comfortably in on of the boxes as I have shown. This probably has something to do with the way the automated system at the depot works rather than human error, but it is a shameful waste of cardboard and shipping volume none the less.

Good for the price, but read reviews if clamping capacity is critical
I've got two smaller versions of these and recently needed longer clamping capacity so bought two more. I read the reviews which indicated the clamping capacity isn't the advertised clamp length, so i ordered slightly longer than I needed. I bought the 600mm which gives internal clamping capacity of 520mm - call it 500mm. So whilst the advertised length given may be technically correct, I'd knock 100mm off it to get the real world. This style of clamp is good for the money, whilst also being light compared to larger sash clamps. But the lightness means they're not quite as strong. However, you can retrofit them with a wood insert. Amazon don’t permit external website links in product reviews but if you search for Paul Sellers retrofit clamps you should find it. PS - You can never have enough clamps. Fact.

Jammed first time out.
Very flimsy. Clamps that jam are no good for woodworking!! First time use and the 2 clamps (1500mm) I bought jammed even before generating enough force to hold some batons together. I cannot vouch for the shorter versions of this clamp but would strongly advise avoiding the longer ones they are not fit for purpose.Review update. My request for a product return was turned down by the supplier because the time period for returns had expired. Fair enough....... my advice to potential buyers therefore is to avoid this product and, if you’re foolish enough to ignore this advice, then please try the clamps out immediately so that you can send them back and don’t end up with junk cluttering your workshop.
