Thin plastic/vinyl Dont buy unless you know this!
I received this about a month after ordering.... didn't realize it came from China, and to be honest had totally forgot I ordered it since I am a prime member and usually stay away from anything NOT prime but the price was right and now I know why. It said carpet playmat so when I saw "carpet I assumed it was ! I tried to return it immediately but the company said they do not offer returns. Good thing it only cost $6.99 If it flattens out enough to use then it would be fun for kids and would be washable... but so are regular rugs. And, because it folds up there will always be wrinkles and rolling it will result in curling on the end. You would need a very flat surface to play on... it does not work on top of carpet. It's definitely not something you would NOT want to keep on the floor when the kids are done because its so flimsey.

Read description carefully
It is not a carpet and is medium in size. My son tore it up rather easy. It is easy to clean up however the folds from where it was shipped never came out.
