Q: Does this fit the 2004 forester xt and can i change it without oil change, because i did that already without the filter change.

I'm not certain about the '04 XT, but I installed this filter on my '03 X and it fit fine. You ought to be able to find an application chart easily enough just to be sure. As far as needing to drain all the transmission fluid, I did not, and very little seeped out during the change (engine off, of course!), even with the transmission full of fluid. One bit of warning: my old filter had been on a long time, and it was tough getting it to come loose; you may need a filter wrench, large pair of pliers, or similar.

This filter fits 2005 to 2009 . Mine was a 2006 Subaru Outback 4 speed automatic and it fit perfect. I would call the dealer to see what part number your 2011 Subaru takes.
