I have been working as a nanny for too many years to remember!I have bought this CD several times as presents and I do have my own copy🤣Must be read by Maureen Lipman can't imagine anyone else doing this story justice.Suitable for 2year +++

My son loves this book. I have it 4 stars as the text is a bit small so reading it with bedside lamps on, you have to hold it a bit closer than other books.Just a small moan but overall great book about a young owl getting to know and appreciating the dark.

First the story: I have loved this book ever since I was given it as a child. The adventures of the night bird, Plop, who is afraid of the dark always fascinated me. It's a great story for pointing out all the wonderful qualities of nighttime & darkness to a child who may be nervous about such things. It also shows them you can grow to be brave and conquer your fears. Of course it is also just an wonderful tale with beautiful illustrations.Now for the cd: it's a great addition, especially as it has not been shortened. As we had already purchased (several copies!) of the book ( The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark ) for our children we can now leave them to listen quietly to the story alone, while they look through the book. Although, I must admit to prefering to either read the story to them myself at bedtime, or sit with them and listen too. Not sure who really enjoys it more!

This is my wife's favourite childhood book so when we were asked to get a book for our new baby niece we thought this would be a winner. It is a fantastic story and the art work is beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Bought as gift for child ,good illustrations, good story suit early learning, good story .

I bought this book as a gift to a friend's daughter having first listened to it over and over again in the car and read it as a bedtime story with my own children about 15 years ago. I never tired of it.It is a truly delightful story of a baby Barn Owl's voyage of discovery and the people he meets along the way. It is a joy to read, loved by children. If you are listening to it in the car, Maureen Lipman's delivery is just fantastic. Young and old will enjoy this tale.If you have young children buy this. If you haven't, borrow some and buy it!

Such a cute story. My kid has recently decided that she’s scared of the dark so I bought this book and it has helped a bit.

Beautifully covered the topic of the dark, my kids loved this gorgeous little book

This is a beautiful story that we've listened to for years. The plot is fun, but what really makes it is the fantastic narration. The narrator has a lovely British accent and voices the different characters ingeniously. Now that our kids are older, we still listen to it from time to time!

Die Geschichte erzählt von einer Eule die Angst vor der Dunkelheit hat und diese Angst mit Hilfe von verschiedenen Personen überwindet. Sie trifft dabei auf verschiedene Charaktere - von kleinen Mädchen/Jungs bis zu älteren Damen und anderen Tieren ist alles dabei. Jeder erzählt, warum die Dunkelheit spannend und schön ist. Nach und nach legt die kleine Eule ihre Angst ab und kann schließlich gemeinsam mit ihren Eltern nachts jagen gehen.Das Vokabular ist anspruchsvoll und abwechslungsreich. Die Vorlesestimme sehr angenehm zu hören und die Geschichte selbst sehr spannend und interessant. Unsere Kinder lieben die Geschichte - wir haben mittlerweile auch das Buch gekauft - und sie wollten sie gleich mehrmals hintereinander anhören.
