STEARNS Suspenders Manually Inflatable Sportsman's Chest Pack

This vest is EXCELLENT! I had used the Sterns Automatic vests for many years. We use them for recreational kayaking and kayak fishing. I still use them for my daughters. I can’t think of how many times they have taken and spill and they have inflated instantly and they have gone floating on downstream. Back to this one…the automatics have inflation around the neck and front of the shoulders. While light, you still feel some weight. You tend not to notice, but wearers still tend to strip them off as soon as they get out of their boats. (An indication that they are not that comfy) This one is designed where the weight is centered all around the mid-section and the straps are positioned to keep the weight off the neck. I wore this for three days straight for over 8 hours of paddling…I didn’t even notice it. I even walked off several times wade fishing and forgot I had it on. The pocket in front is perfect in size and easily accessed. Perfect for a small lure case, phone, candy bar, etc. I was in Simms waders and the vest did not interfere at all.On a quick note, this is a manual vest. I would not put kids in it, but I am a competent swimmer. Life vests are required to be ‘in the boat’ in our state, but not necessarily worn. Most of the guys I paddle with have their vests crammed somewhere, of little use in a panic situation. This is a great compromise and actually adds a lot of utility with the multiple attachment points and pocket. The manual feature also lets these be worn while wading, something that you really cannot do with a conventional vest.

My husband is an avid bass fisherman and uses his float tube constantly in local lakes. He is usually completely alone on a secluded lake, which makes me nervous about his safety. I bought him this life jacket and he seems to really like it. It is not bulky and fits high enough that he can be in his float tube with it on. It also has a storage pocket in front. He is always complaining about not having enough storage on his tube, so this was a good way to get him to actually wear it :) It is a little expensive, but competitively priced compare to the other products like this I have seen on the market. Well worth it for my piece of mind and his safety.

I highly recommend this product. The vest sits very well and does not ride around while paddling. I bought this for Kayaking due to being able to move with no restrictions. Another inflatable I have rides around to the side continually where this one does not. Materials and workmanship seem very good. Time will tell because I plan on using this a lot. The chest pouch has easy access pockets.

I'm a good swimmer but I like to have something I don't mind wearing for a good impression on small grandchildren. This lets you move freely and gives you peace of mind if there is ever an emergency and you need to help others.

Great product. This was actually a replacement purchase to an older model (which is still in great working conduction. Just was upgrading some gear). I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to have the safety and security around the water while enjoying fishing or boating
