Black Truffle Mushroom (Tuber melanosporum) Mycelium Spawn Dried Seeds

The Jury is out. These are some sort of seeds which are a substrate material which maybe (should be) coated with some truffle spores. I got the petri dishes and propagated some sort of bread mold. It was not a mushroom or truffle spore - it grew from the substrate. Then my mycologist friend told me to plant the trees (hazelnut or Burr oaks) and put the magic seeds in the ground right near the roots and the spore would infect the roots if in fact there are any spores on the substrate. She seemed to think that it was possible that if the folks who processed them were legit (writing in Cyrillic on the plastic envelope indicated Russian origin) in 4 or 5 years the infected tree roots would produce truffles. So I did it and I will let you know in 5 years. Cheap experiment. Seeds and bare root trees - $100. Your own truffle orchard - priceless. HAHAHA.

Not sure what is the future like... waiting another year to see any results.

I got them to successfully germinate in agar dishes. Now I just need a reflective microscope so I can check the mycelium and compare to photos in books and online. :)

In a few years I hope to have a regular crop of Truffles for the high end restaurants in my area.
