Rapunzel and the Seven Dwarfs: A Maynard Moose Tale (Maynard Moose Tales) Hardcover – Picture Book, April 16, 2011

I am a librarian at a small school and also have little ones at home. This is a favorite for all ages! It's also one of my personal favorites to read aloud. You need this book!

Originally, my daughter got this book from her school library, then we read it through a school app online and we had to purchase it. It's an absolutely wonderful, hilarious, entertaining story that is for everyone. Even my husband who has a hard time with the "princess" tales loves reading this one. The book arrived quickly and is sturdy with beautiful illustrations. The CD is great as the narrator does a fabulous job.

The Maynard Moose stories are truly amazing. They are quite funny, and very well, "poorly" written. Meaning Maynard (who narrates) has a unique way of pronouncing words and speaking. My kids are on the young side for these books, but because the books and themes and characters are so silly, they still enjoy the books very much and we read them often at bed time. Almost as important is that I enjoy reading them. They are very clever, and also teach important lessons in a fresh way. I can't recommend the Maynard Moose books enough. All the ones we have read so far have been amazing. Check them out!

The kids loved it thanks

Will Claflin is a master wordsmith, creating words that are fun to say. The prince's rescue of Repunzel does not go the way it does in the original fairy tale. Punzel ends up living with eight or nine of the Seven Dwarfs and more hilarious chaos ensues. This book is SO FUNNY, it is difficult to read aloud without becoming breathless from laughing and cloudy-eyed from mirthful crying . For ages 6 and above who already know the original "Rapunzel" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" stories.

My kids love this book. Even now, as teenagers. I run a daycare and this book is being purchased for my center.

I really wanted to like this book. I love storytelling in character, and have taught storytelling for a long time. I love voices from different cultures. This audio recording, however, is offensive. An affected lisp and poor pronunciation are used to make the narrator sound stupid - which is not the same as creating a character. This is written and read in poor taste. If you're looking for clever wordplay like Shel Silverstein (Runny Babbit) or the charm of a Clever Jack story, you will be disappointed here. I am glad I pre-read this one and will not be sharing it with my five year old students.

I love this book, the audio CD was a super bonus! It's funny for both adults and kids a great twist on fairy tales.

Hilarious book! My children love it to no end, especially the "chubbified prince"
