Artful Paper Clay: Techniques for Adding Dimension to Your Art

This book is excellent and I am so happy I bought it. The author provides step by step directions with color photos for each step that make it easy to understand and follow, without skipping any of the steps. She provides tips along the way and covers handling the clay, sculpting the clay, painting and finishing techniques. I wish all instructional art books were in this format. All the writing is clear and precise for easy understanding. I can't wait to give it a try and how this is going to expand my sculpting and painting. It's so well done that even a complete beginner will be able to do it. The author also offers short video clips on her website if you bought her book that have been great to watch. I love it, and I am so happy the author is sharing her knowledge about this art technique with clay.

Although I had trouble with the first order of this book going astray, Amazon corrected the problem and had another copy sent within 2 days. Bravo Amazon. I truly enjoyed this book. The instructional order is reasonable, from simple to more complex designs. The author covers the topic from how to handle the clay, the proper tools, selecting and preparing surfaces, curing, paints, mediums, glues, finishing, framing etc. She also gives a very good lesson on color selection and the uses for opaque and transparent paint applications. I don't want to give anything away, but the instructions on surface preparation and clay handling are worth the price of this book.

This book is wonderful if you want to explore Paper Clay as an art medium. Step by step instructions and excellent photos show the way. Highly recommend this book.

This is a colorful and nicely illustrated easy to understand book on how to create art using paper clay. This artist has some great ideas and shares them all with the reader. Her work is beautiful and she makes this unique craft easy and simple to understand.

I love this book! The instructions are clear with photos showing every step through each project. I have completed almost all the exercises in the book and progressed to some original work, which is exciting since I am not really an artist. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in working with paper clay, no matter what level.

This book really has great tutorials on using paper clay. I had searched for hints on line and was disappointed. This book does ot disappoint at all!

I had never thought of using paper clay to create a bass relief effect. While my style is not the same as the authors, the pictures are inspiring and the process is clearly described. The techniques used to create detail reminded me of leather tooling. The projects start simple and increase in complexity.

It really is a lovely book, with a lot of content that will provide inspiration. There are some techniques that I hadn't thought of before, however, one thing that isn't right for me (but this is a personal thing and is unikely to affect many other people unless they have the same problem) and that part of her technique is to is to use acrylic gloss medium to seal the pieces, and I am allergic to solvent-based paints and mediums! So, I'm going to have to find an alternative - somehow! I do want to make some of these, though.She has some videos online, too, of her technique which are worth watching - it was those that made me buy the book, rather than the other way round.

I recently started using air-dry clay, making 3D objects and thought this would be an interesting technique to try. The book is excellent! Clearly laid out with several projects to try, starting with basic, simple examples and suggestions. I would highly recommend it if you fancy trying something a bit different and you can make your projects as simple or as complicated as you would like. Artists usually hold back the ‘secrets’ of their work, obviously because we would all cash in on their expertise! But Rogene Manas has been very generous with her instructions, making it possible to have an achievable outcome. Love it!

This book has changed my life. Very rarely do you find an art or craft instruction book that is both inspirational and easy to learn from. This is a lovely bas relief technique to work with, and it's worth investing in some high quality paints and the best paper clay - as recommended. Rogene Manas is an artist in her own right, and very generous in her willingness to share the secrets of her success with others. Thank you Rogene!
