As anyone who gets cold sores can tell you, we’ll try just about anything that offers some hope of reducing or avoiding getting one. If there were evidence that rubbing your lips on an armadillo’s butt would protect against cold sores, armadillo sales would skyrocket. So of course I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately I have not been able to use it enough to gauge effectiveness. Either the viscosity or the melting point, or both, is too low for a twist up applicator a la Chapstick. The material softens to the consistency of Vaseline, flowing into the cap, separating, making a mess. And I don’t mean left on the dash of your car, I mean simply carried in your pocket. Either switch to a squeeze-tube container/applicator, or increase the firmness of the product. Til then...the search continues.

I bought this product after experiencing my first ever cold sore that left me with a damaged nerve. After going through this pain, and hours of research, I read about Lysine and all the supposed positive sides to it. My lips were extremely cracked. I purchased every chapstick under the sun. The last one I bought was Herpecin which left white residue all over my lips and did little to help. After I searched on Amazon, this product came up and I gave it a shot. I can't speak for its effect on cold sores since I've only used for a week, but in 2 days, my cracked lips healed miraculously. I also love that it goes ok clear and has SPF. Thank you for offering this product at a reasonable price AND free shipping! My lips are forever grateful. I'm planning on buying my second 2 pack to keep as backup.

I bought this believing the reviews claiming that this would prevent cold sores. My daughter has cold sores every 2-3 months and I wanted to prevent them from re-occuring. To my dismay, she has gotten a cold sore and even with using this every day and night, it didn't prevent the cold sore from forming, nor did it prevent it from flaring up. My daughter's lip is full of tiny bubbles all over her lips. Better off spending the money and getting Abreva.

When it's cold and windy or hot and windy, I almost always get a cold sore on my lip. Throw in some added stress and I may get a few! I've been using this chapstick since 2015 (after trying many other products for years) and I have had great success!I've used this to prevent cold sores by applying it during situations when I know I'd normally get one, and nothing shows up! I've used this to reduce the length and intensity of cold sores when they pop up unexpectedly, also! Quantum's Super Lysine supplements (in pill form) are a great pair for this chapstick when you may be in inclement weather, under stress, or feel a sore coming on. These seem expensive at first, but because they work so effectively, they're priceless! I highly recommend this product!!

I take two Super Lysine tablets every day as a cold sore preventative. I don't remember who recommended I do this, but it WORKS. Far less plagued with them than I used to be. When I saw this stuff, I figured it would be great as a lip sunscreen. I spend a LOT of time in the sun (kayaking, hiking, etc.) and this is my new go-to lip balm. Recommended!

My favorite chapstick for keeping lips moisturized and protected. I don’t think it prevents cold sores persay but I like the ingredients and the results!

I love this coldstick. I get chapped lips and sometimes cold sores whenever I spend a lot of time in the sun. As long as I remember to use this super lysine coldstick, I have no problems at all. Can't recommend this stuff enough!
