Checkmate picks up with all the drama that Coca Kola left us with. Apple is trapped in the whorehouse waiting on Chico to hopefully rescue her, while being degraded more and more by the day. Even though I didn't like Apple you couldn't help but to feel sorry for her, with all that she was going through. Kola is still hurting from Cross's betrayal, but still flooding the streets with product. Eduardo (Kola's supplier) is still trying his best to get her to be his woman. Edge was up to his usual antics trying to get at Kola and trying to turn Cross against her as well. We are introduced to some new characters like Two-Face and he definitely lives up to his name. And Denise, the twins mother, is still up to no good and getting on everyone's nerves. There is still a war going on between Chico and Kola, but while Chico constantly thinks of Apple, Kola could care less. Kola's enemies are stacking up by the day, while Apple is still plotting her revenge. Will Apple make it out of the whorehouse? Will Kola lose the war against Chico? I read this book in one sitting and I wasn't ready for it to end. People are slipping and getting careless and I can't wait to see who will finally claim the throne. If you liked Bad Apple and Coca Kola then you will love this one.

The reign up top is often short lived and full of frienemies.Cross let his hatin' @$$ right hand man screw him by not checking into what was really going on. Listening to him he went after his connect; someone truly out of his league, and putting everyone he cares about at risk.Apple is still in a brothel in Mexico where she suffers a few atrocities like being drugged and having her baby stolen and sold. she is eventually saved by the most unlikely person from the past and she's Back looking to take her throne back.Kola's whole crew has been wiped out and she doesn't know who to trust so she leaves town to rebuild and hopefully come back strong.Last but not least is Chico who has spent a fortune taking out Apple's enemies and trying to find her. He doesn't find her so regretfully he moves on and he and Blythe become a hot couple......then Apple shows up with her knight in shining armor not believing that Chico ever looked for her.Everyone is looking to be on top but there is only room for one, who will it be?

This book was fire just like all the rest. Apple is back on top again and I cant wait to see what happens next.

I received my books earlier this week and read all 3 books in this series in 3 days. LOVED THEM ALL!! I will be ordering book 4 today, FACE OFF. All three books were page turners. They were steamyyyy, action-packed, suspenseful, and entertaining. The worst part was when I finished the last book. I did not want the series to end. I recommend this series to anyone. Would also recommend Cartier Cartel and the sequel, Return of the Cartier Cartel. You will not be disappointed in ANY of these books! Before reading these books, I had never heard of this author. It's official now: I am a fan and will be passing my books to friends to read as well.

This 3rd book was not as good as the first two books. The Author spent so much time on Chico and Cross. I sped thru these chapters cause I wanted to read more about Apple. There was probably 5 chapters spent on Apple. Disappointing. I don't know if I will read part 4 cause I really don't want to waste my time, and plus I read a snippet of Apple and Chico hating each other and trying to kill eachother which doesn't make sense to me cause Cross loved Apple why would he try to kill her.AND another thing I didn't like was the author said Apple had surgery within a few months, How could she be healed and looking back to normal in a only a few months??????????? doesn't make sense.

When reading the first 2 installments of the "baddist chick" series, I knew this would be good. I didn't know it would make me turn the pages as quickly as they did. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next installment. Will the twins ever be close again. I hate to see Apple go through all the craziness she has going on. Anyone debating on reading these books should definitely try them. They are excellent.

Miss Santiago has done it again and continues to amaze. This is the third series of the Kola and Apple. The book picks up exactly where Koca Kola left off. I have to say it was a tough read because of the circumstances surrounding Apple. Like they say karma can come back and bite you in the ass.I cant wait for the fourth part. I hope Miss Santiago releases it soon. She is an excellent writer and I highly recommend all her books.
