1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe #12 Blue Metallic with White Stripes 1/18 Diecast Model Car by Shelby Collectibles SC146

After seeing the movie "Ford vs. Ferrari," and learning more about the history of the late Caroll Shelby, this car, and the Ford GT-40, I put both this scale replica and the GT-40 from Shelby Collectibles on my Christmas list, and got both from Santa's elves. I'm delighted with them. The die-cast steel construction is great; the parts all fit together perfectly; the detail/colors are fabulous for a scale model like this, and I couldn't be happier with my new "toys" ... both felt like my "Red Ryder BB-gun" when I was opening them. I put "toys" in quotation marks, because these replicas aren't playthings/toys for kids, and if they're bought for kids, the giver should expect them to get destroyed pretty quick.The only negatives I would offer are: 1) the plastic parts incorporated into the larger, die-cast parts are fragile ... one of the little red tow-hooks on the front bumper of the GT-40 was broken inside the package, and fell off/out when I opened it. I was able to put it back on with a dab of Krazy Glue, so no big deal, but the way these things are packed, there's no way that could have happened without, e.g., sloppy handling at the factory, or by whomever put the finished replica in its display box; 2) secondly, it seems more than a little sad to me that a replica of a legendary American race car, designed/built by an American as unique/legendary as the late Carroll Shelby would end up being made in China ...
