Romantic comedy????
Well written and quite gritty with real life issues that most will be able to relate to but "Laugh out loud and uplifting romantic comedy" I don't think so but that might just be me?I found this to be quite long and at time dourr and a bit depressing a lot of the characters were unsympathetic and not very nice. They were redeemed at the end but it was a long journey.Written during Covid lockdown seemed a lot darker than other books by author.

Another brilliant book from Sophie Ranald!
I was halfway through reading another novel when He's Cancelled came out and, good as that other book is, I had to put it down in order to gobble this one up (can't think of a better phrase than gobbled ... even though it makes me sound like a Gremlin devouring paperbacks for breakfast). Anyway, what a fantastic read! The storyline was superb, the characters were very real to me, and anyone watching my face while I was reading (I'm blind so have no idea) would have been quite worried at how my expression likely changed from laughter to sadness right over to grinding-my-teeth-in-outrage at the speed of sound. Nat is probably my favourite character in all the books I've read from this author so far, though Robin Blake comes very close (and Teresa obviously). Highly recommend to anyone wanting a good romance with plenty of laughs and teary moments thrown in. The only thing I was disappointed in (slight spoiler alert) was the fact Nat doesn't actually knee Billy in the groin. I was looking forward to that part :)

Not sure where the title fits in
So, I was reading this and waiting for the bit where he cancelled, and in the end it was her. There seems to be a disconnect between the title and the story, which I think dented my enjoyment a bit. Other than that, it was a good read and I enjoyed it.

Up to date
I liked the fact that the lock down was made part of the story.

Who doesn't love a bit of wedding-related madness?
Protagonist Natalie doesn't but she's caught up in her need to be accepted by her soon-to-be in-laws, who see the wedding as the perfect opportunity to sort out all of their own social insecurities. The very relatable dilemma around how out of hand are things get before Nat finally asserts herself kept me turning the pages. Along the way, other characters are also working out how to balance their needs with their responsibilities to others and this gives the book a lot of heart. Also for those who like me, love Sophie Ranald's books for the characterful cat content and cameos from previous protagonists, you won't be disappointed!

Warm, funny - strong recommend!
Adored this. Centred around a couple who've perhaps rushed into the marriage thing a little too early on in their relationship, and have the added issue of an over enthusiastic mother in law trying to take over the wedding planning and turn the day into an overblown spectacle neither the bride or groom want. In among the laughs, it explores the issue of family dynamics, communication within relationships and this being Sophie Ranald, it has some seriously great female characters. It's wonderful to read fiction with believable women from a variety of backgrounds.
