This all plastic pollen trap hangs in the entrance of a hive supported by two small "L" hooks which can be purchased at the local hardware store. At such a low price you can try something that you have always wanted to do...trap your own pollen. The specially designed collecting screen can be raised (taped into position) or lowered to collect pollen. No hive trash will enter resulting in cleaner pollen. You must collect daily and avoid rain showers. Fits 10 Frame hives.

Works fine and price can;t be beat
I bought this as I only needed to collect a small amount (<1 lb) of pollen. Works fine for that. Placed on hive for 2 days with screen open for bees to get used to. I placed a couple bricks underneath to align and push this onto the hive entrance. On the 3rd day flipped the screen down for pollen collection. Worked fine. Some bees did get down into the pollen trap drawer. I removed the trap on the 4th day. Also, I knew a entrance only pollen trap would really restrict bees movement in and out of the hive so you find a lot of bees on the outside of the hive trying to get in. But I knew this happens even with more expensive entrance only pollen traps. For serious collection without restricting movement get a Sundance or other pollen trap where the screen is the entire length-width of the hive body. But for my needs, this little and cheap pollen trap worked well.

Use sparingly.
Works efficiently, but do no overuse it - the bees collect pollen because they need it. During a pollen flow I install it one day at a time, every 3 days. I freeze the bee pollen right away and this spring I made supplemental pollen patties with it, of which the bees are partaking enthusiastically. I put two small 'L' hooks on the front of the hive body to support it and for easy removal.

missing parts
This pollen catcher is missing two key pieces that you need to fasten it to the front of the hive entrance

Kills bees in the process...not good
I have to agree, to many dead bees for me to feel good about. I also wanted to send it back but kept it for too long.

Bees didn’t like it.
It wouldn’t stay on and the bees wouldn’t go through it.

Very cheap
Definitely won’t buy again. Very cheaply made. Came missing a screw that holds the side on. Very cheap plastic.
