It is better than having nothing on the end of your camera
The media could not be loaded. This is a knock-off, as we all know. It is better than having nothing on the end of your camera, but just. THe locking mechanism is just for looks. It does not snap into place. This allows it to keep spinning. One option would be to use some gaffer tape and tape the hood in the correct position, however, that would be a pain in the rear every time you need to remove it. For me, it is essential, for travelling to and from assignments to be able to store my gear in my camera bag.Another issue with the hood not locking into place is that it can spin while shooting. If it is not in its correct position, it can cause vignetting. Hopefully you are looking through the viewfinder and checking all four corners when composing, but even if you are, the time it takes to reset the hood you may miss the decisive moment. If you are a landscape shooter (you spend more time setting up your shots and waiting for the light than actually shooting) this might be fine. If you are a casual hobbyist this could be okay too (if you miss a few shots here and there no big deal). If you are a commercial shooter, then you are making enough money to buy the original and shouldn't even be reading this review. If you are a photojournalist, then I highly recommend spending the extra money to get the original. This one will just end up causing you to miss shots when it falls off or spins out of position causing you heavy vignetting. If you miss one shot, it was worth the money for the right tool for the job, dontcha think?I am ordering the original Canon as I should have in the first place.

Perfect fit aftermarket EW-82 for Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L lens
I lost the lens hood that came with the lens a couple years ago. A couple years ago the only option was to buy a new one from Canon for around $50. So I just went without. Fast forward to 2020 and I ran across this aftermarket EW-82 lens hood. For $8 I thought I’d give it a try. Perfect fit. No looseness or movement after locked in place. In fact the fit may be a little too tight. If you try taking off the lens hood with the lens cap on, pull the hood off will knock the lens cap off. Just put your thumb on the lens cap and flip the lens hood off. And like the Canon lens hood it also has the locking tab, not a cheap twist on or ring lens screw on. Not sure what the “warmth” and “sheerness” rating have to do with this review. Hey Amazon, this is a piece of plastic not some lingerie...

Mount design is garbage!
I wish I had access to the Canon version, so I could compare, but I don't, so here goes.Pros1. Cuts out glare from the sun. I have shot straight in the direction of the sun, and so long as I get the right angle, it cut out almost all lens flare and glare. So it works as intended.2. Kind of reversible, see the note in the cons. I can store it in my bag with my lens just fine.3. I've not tested the cloth that came with it, but only because I have one just like it already, and that one works great.4. Price is good, seeing that the Canon brand was at least 10 dollars more at the time I bought this one.Cons1. It is kind of ugly. By that I mean there are obvious blemishes all over the outside of the hood. They look to me like the mold might have been dirty, or not all the way up to temp when this was made, and the plastic didn't melt uniformly. It doesn't seem to affect the performance though, but 1 star off for bad QC. If they will allow this out the door, no telling what else they allow too.2. The mount is garbage. I am constantly fighting with this thing when trying to mount it. There is no obvious way to mount it, I just kind of push it on, and twist until it feels tight. This forces me to have to hold the lens barrel so that the zoom and the focus doesn't move while doing it. While not a problem if I am just going to walk around with it on, it becomes a problem if I am trying to switch out filters on a tripod to get different effects on the same shot. Also, it never feels like it is sturdy, and a good bump makes it fall off. I never walk with my camera hanging from my neck or side with this still attached, since I know the hood will fall off and likely get lost. I have the Canon Lens Hood EW-73C for my Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens and it fits so much better. It has markings on the lens and hood to show how it goes on, and it snaps into place perfectly. I never feel like it is about to fall off, and I never have to fight it to get it on. This hood makes me feel like I am about to break my lens when I am trying to get it on sometimes. Once, I noticed I was actually moving the zoomed out portion of the lens when trying to mount it at full zoom. Not good, so now I only mount before zooming if possible. 1 star off for bad mount design.3. While reversible, I have to fight it to actually get it to stay on the lens in reverse. I got tired of fighting it, so I just place it in the bag first, then put the lens over it. I don't think this is worth taking a star off for, since reversible mount is more a bonus feature than a selling point, but it is still worth noting. So, I don't think I would buy this brand again if looking for a replacement for this hood. Seeing that the Canon brand was only 10 dollars more at the time I bought this, I kind of wish I had ponied up the extra cash. Seeing as this is for my kit lens telephoto Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS II Telephoto Zoom Lens (discontinued by manufacturer) , I am not too heart broken over it. I don't even know if the Canon has a better mount design anyway, since I have no access to one to see if it does. I would guess their QC is better though, as everything I have from them is pretty top notch. Otherwise, this is a fairly mediocre product, and it's price point is the only point that is worth mentioning in favor of buying it over the Canon brand.

A decent alternative for a great price.
I bought my 24-70 2.8 L II used from a working professional. The factory hood, while in excellent condition (I don't think it was used much, if at all) did not fit tight, and didn't really lock in place very well.(am I the only one who really misses the sturdy old twist lock hood Canon used to use an L lenses ?? The new push button ones suck in my opinion) In use, it fell off a couple times in use, and I finally just left it at home. The hood for this lens is so small I didn't really miss it, but like to have the hood to protect the front of the lens somewhat. I have always used lens hoods for protection instead of UV filters. So as to this very inexpensive replacement hood, I am pretty happy with it. It lacks the internal flocking, and it also doesn't lock in place like it should (I do not need to push the button to remove it, which MAY be an issue with my lens, not the hood). But it fits tight and secure, and stays in place during heavy field use unlike the Canon one. I won't cry too much if I lose it, as long as I can get another one this cheap.

Great substitute
I’ve had no problems with the lens hood, it fitted the 24-70mm F2.8 mark 2 perfectly and was a fraction of the price of the Canon replacement

no funcionó
no encajaba en el lente, no giraba y quedaba en forma vertical lo que ocasionaba un viñeteo muy marcado en las fotos, regresé el producto y recibí la devolución de mi dinero, el servicio de amazon excelente
