If you've ever used a FW-50 battery powered camera, you know how weak they are, especially if used for video recording. The battery size may have been something that made sense for the original NEX E-mount cameras, but for something like the Sony A7S, they don't last more than about an hour of time at best.For that, a Sony camcorder battery is a much better fit.This isn't a new idea, in fact I actually built something almost exactly like this out of a Sony Camcorder battery charger years ago and shared it on Youtube and various camera forums. I'd like to say that this looks so much like my DIY adapter that I think it may have even been inspired by it! I explain more and compare it to the one I built in the video attached. Hope it helps someone!NOTE: This is only for cameras that use the original FW-50 battery. Third generation A7 cameras now use a newer and larger capacity cell instead (thankfully), so you'd need a different adapter to interface with the battery cavity. In other words, This will work great with A7S mark I and II, but the III won't be compatible.
