I bought this not only for travel purposes but because my son just learned to play chess and I wasnt sure how long his enthusiasm for the game would last. Well he loves it and we play everyday. This set is perfect for a beginner, travel, and to store away till next time. Size is great and all the pieces store nicely in the felt bag it came with, which stores perfectly inside the game board and snaps closed with ease.

My son wanted a chess set for scout trips. This one worked great… fit in his daypack and the pieces are magnetic so if the board got knocked (as they do on scout trips) the game could go on. So why am I not giving it a 5?? After 2 uses, one of the hinges broke. Still usable but a bit of a pain and disappointing

My son wanted a chess set he could use on trips. We really like the set, the magnets are good. It is a bit cheaply made, but we kind of expected that since the price was low. Overall, we are happy with it.

I purchased this for a recent camping trip i went on with my children. The case is sturdy, closes up nicely and holds all the pieces securely when closed. The magnetic force and pressure that connects the pieces to the board is just right.Recommended.

This is a great little starter set. I got this for my children to learn with and I love how the pieces aren't easily knocked over or lost. Great quality and just small enough to be useful for them but not too small.5 stars!
