Q: will this connect to a standard queen zise metal bedframe?

Yes it will connect perfectly to a standard queen size metal bedframe. I adore mine. It looks so awesome. I found a quilted bedspread in Amazon. My room looks ao fantastic. I got the dressers, nightstand and bookcase. You'll love it. Deborah

Q: What are the dimensions of the upholstered panels? How far off the floor does the actual headboard part start?

The panels measure 9 inches x 56 inches. The panels are slightly inset from the framework on the 9 inch dimension but are negligible. The headboard legs are 24 inches from the floor. We love the clean lines and simplicity of design. The pricing of this piece is as attractive as the item itself. Attaching headboard to your existing frame is easily accomplished, is sturdy and sound once attached. We paired this item with a maroon tufted comforter with a mid gray back liner, it looks elegant and clean. I do hope you are as pleased with this purchase as we are! We have given several friends and family the manufacturer name as they want to explore for themselves this product line.

Q: Will this work with a 18 foot tall bed frame?

Hard to say. I think the placement of the mounting points is usually the same with no regard to height. But more importantly, your frame may need brackets to mount to. This headboard has slots that run to about 10 inches high off the floor. Bolts are supposed to go through that. If you have a Zinus frame, this is made to bolt directly to (most) of them. We have the 14” quick snap fame (queen and twin- both great!). I know none of that is entirely helpful, but it’s all I can say based on our setup.
