SanitaireS635A Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner

We purchased this vacuum because we already owned a heavier "commercial" version of it. We've been satisfied with our older Sanitaire.....great suction, long heavy-duty cord, inexpensive bags (F&G), very durable. But we needed a new one for our cottage "up north". We don't have as much carpet to vacuum, we don't use the vacuum as often and wanted a lighter-weight one to carry up and down stairs. And it has been just what we wanted. It uses the same bags as our other Sanitaire and works just as well and is much lighter. We haven't had it very long and have only used it 3 or 4 times, but I am very pleased and it was about half the price of other other one!

This is great as a carpet sweeper only as it has no attachments. For me that is okay as I have a Hitachi tank unit that is good for attachment type cleaning. I use this in commercial setting (store showroom). What I like about this, unlike all the bag less cleaners is that there is no filter to clean, the bag is a HEPA bag. It is also very light in weight for a commercial cleaner. The motor is powerful enough that the roller brush will propel the machine depending on the surface. The basic design is 60-70 yrs. old with a few modern improvements such as being light in weight. Parts, such as the roller brush are replaceable. Cost about $175.00 and I think worth the price. Got tired of replacing cheap $100-150 cleaners about every 2 yrs. If you don't need a cleaner with attachments, this is worth a try.

I wanted a basic no frills bagged vacuum for my carpeting that had good suction, was lightweight and maneuverable, and this vacuum meets my requirements perfectly. At only 12 lbs it is easy to carry around the house and up stairs, and the handle folds flat to reach deep under low furniture. The 30 foot cord reduces the number of times I have to move the cord to a different outlet, and the cord routing to the top of the handle keeps me from getting tangled in the cord and damaging it. The top cord hook flips down to permit removal of the cord in one step without having unwrap it for use. The six position height adjustment knob is easy to use, as is the handle release pedal, but the On/Off button is tricky since it is flush with the housing, so sometimes it takes several seconds to turn it off while the brush grinds away at the carpet.I have marked it down one star for unclear assembly instructions that apply to multiple models, and the lack of any spare or repair parts list. The bag was easy to figure out because it is printed on the outer zipper bag (F & G), but I had to go to the Sanitaire website to figure out which belt and brushroll were required. Also, the warranty on this model is only 2 years, which IMO is not very good.

These vacuums are the workhorse of the commercial cleaning industry. This model is amazing with the disposable bag, simply buy f&g Eureka bags anywhere, and be done! Unmatched suction and 30+ year service life. Simply a belt (extra provided) and a bag to replace, THATS IT!These are only sold through Vacuum stores and online, Eureka would never make any money if they sold these at retailers like the junk models you can buy that last a 1-3 years! SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT & QUIET!

Do not buy!! I had this vacuum before. I bought it for $400 at my local sew and vac store. It worked for 10 years. Amazingly. With little to no maintenance. I bought it off amazon for $150 and it broke within 35 days of ordering when I was passed the return window. It just up and stopped!!! I know this vacuum well and they sent me a dud. Buyer beware.
