Almost everything I wanted it to be
I really had high expectations for this device, given the price. But I am disappointed in at least one major feature.First off, the Simple Control system is very nice and very customizable. I highly recommend it if you need to control a lot of devices and program your own. It's not cheap though as it is subscription software but because of its capabilities, I can live with that. You have to purchase licenses for all the devices you want to control (in 3, 20 and 100 packs) but you can create an unlimited number of activities with those devices in as many rooms as you like. It's easy to save your configuration (to Simple or to Dropbox) and restore it to other iOS devices. This blaster does come with it's own license, which is good; one less expense there. The two discrete emitters do their job well when attached to the correct area on a device so the IR receiver picks up commands. The blaster is about 3"x1" so it's pretty small. The IR receiver on the device is easy to program custom codes. Make sure you keep it accessible so you can program codes in the future. One word of warning; when adding codes from a remote and renaming them (from the default names) the new name you assigned will then be in alphabetical order with the other commands. So when you add a new command and name it and it doesn't show up at the top of the list, look for it in the list under the name you just assigned to it. It makes sense when you read it here but while you're programming it's a little confusing. It's the 'blaster' I have an issue with. The description reads "targeting any devices in 20' range." It is little more than the length of a quarter with an emitter maybe 2 millimeters. I have used a 'blaster ' from Logitech with a Harmony remote (via RF.) Worked great, but a handheld remote just doesn't do it with a complex setup. I have an XBox One S with Kinect and it controls devices (TV, Receiver and Tivo) with voice commands just fine though the commands are limited. Both of IR the blasters have sat in the entertainment area WITH the devices they're meant to control, meaning they're facing the same direction and above and/or beside each others with no line of sight. The 'blaster' with this device barely does line of sight. As in I have a custom device within 8 inches of it in direct line of sight and have issues (though the included remote for that device works fine from across the room.) Forget about putting it some distance away with devices spread out over a 4'x2' area (in my case.) My entertainment stand is beneath my TV, two levels with the devices spread out. Putting the blaster above facing down did not control any of them (maybe at a 30 degree angle.) It's impossible to move it out further given the length of the cables (the two emitters are being used on other devices.)The entertainment area is like this when viewing: TV TV KinectTivoMini AppleTv Roku Multi-Viewer Xbox-One Blu-Ray DVD Receiver Xbox-One S Tivo BoltWhy all the devices? Multi-viewer going to the main TV and a 2nd TV above. Live and streaming sources available to both. For this price I really expect a 'blaster' that has enough power to bounce off of other objects in the room like the Logitech and Microsoft devices. For what is provided I am truly disappointed.Given the abilities of the device with these limitations, along with the very good tech support and the great software, I have to go with four stars. This device though, should be priced at half its cost as it does not live up to the claims.

Best Home Control App...
This is a review of both the simple control application and the simple blaster. The app is one of the best, and rivals top A/V home control apps. The controls in the app are clean, direct IP control is the way to go, which SC has the best library out there that’s I’ve seen, but if your device doesn’t support it, the blaster with IR/serial will do the trick. The app even supports devices with power toggle only. The setup is simple. Add the device in the simple control app, set a static IP (if you don’t do this as second nature, expect issues), and you’re ready to program in the app. The app walks you through the programming and there is a comprehensive setup guide that spells out every advanced and basic feature. The best part is the support. Send in an email for an issue/feature, expect an app update with your patch within a day or two. Only downside to this product is if people do not program it correctly, it will not function as needed, as it requires a basic understanding of home A/V and electronics, but if you know where the HDMI goes on your tv, you can work through the setup guides etc. Support is also very helpful to help you get to that point. Highly recommend

You have to place and attach on the device in the absolute perfect spot to get it to work
Device works, but IR blaster eyes are way too weak. You have to place and attach on the device in the absolute perfect spot to get it to work. I have other blasters which can work from a few inches away even.On the other hand set-up is easy and the fact that there are two specific channel eyes and one general blaster is every useful... my application involved separate control of two different cable set-top boxes, so having the specific channel eyes was critical to my purchase. Still a good purpose, but a simple fix to a higher quality more powerful IR emitter would push this to 5 stars.

Good design and easy integration with SimpleRemote, but price tag seems very high and tuning is very manual
While I was able to program an entire remote's functions fairly easily, the tuning of the device is a bit clumsy and only allows for repeating of commands, but doesn't allow for obvious adjustments like time spent between commands or how long the command pulse lasts. Also, the device costs nearly $130 which seems very high considering. The Harmony One remote coats about the same and includes an IR blaster with it! Granted this device is far most customizable but it's a lot of money.

Good, but SimpleControl still leaves a bit to be desired.
It's a finicky system to set up, but works well once finally calibrated correctly. The real trouble is getting to that point. As for the software, sure wish that V5 was more customizable. It's always a case of "soon" with this company. Regardless, they still are one of the most functional on the market.

Needed a little more instruction but works fantastic.
Took a little while to understand how to setup the emitters but emailed the support desk for help. Once it's setup and paired with Simple Control App, everything works seamless.

Solid product.
Works like a charm. You can even set a static IP!

Waste of time and don't buy this headache
I have purchased 2 of these devices. I purchased an Ipad for the controller as SimpleControl is an app. Both SimpleBlaster's don't allow my program any IR device. Waste of time and don't buy this headache. If i could give this a negative star.
