Interesting combination vegan omega 3 - but isn't clear about adding Ahiflower and low EPA
I am vegan and tried to integrate the algal oil into my diet when I can. The pills are unfortunately all expensive so those people who are comparing them to fish oil caps in terms of price, it isn't really a fair comparison. These pills are similar in price to other vegan omega 3 pills but also have some extras. They function a little bit like a vegan multi, as you get vegan D3 from lichen (which can be hard to find!), vitamin E, and a good form of K2. The pills are the large ones vs the small football shaped ones which I prefer. Some people think they're too big but personally they are my preferred form as it can be a lot of small pills to take to get a decent amount of omega 3. Even with the big pills to get an amount similar to fish oil you technically should be taking around 4 pills but at that dosage you run out fast. I have no problem taking the big fills and I didn't have any fishy burps or issues after taking 2.This is a DHA heavy supplement and I was kind of surprised by this. Usually supplements have more DHA but it's at least more balanced. I was a little disappointed that it's advertising DHA + EPA as the EPA is only 5mg and negligible. That being said, it makes it good to pair with if you have an EPA only pill, like the ones I have from Iwi.This pill also has 400mg of Ahiflower seed oil. Ahiflower sounds cool but it's actually a weird weed named " corn gromwell" that commonly grows in the EU and Asia and it was found that it has a lot of normal vegan omega 3s and other omegas compared to things like flax, chia, and so forth. This weed has two veggie omega 3s like the kind in flax (but these aren't quite as good as DHA as the body has to further convert them, which is why vegan fish oil pills exist) and a tiny tiny bit of omega 6.This is kind of interesting that they did this and it makes it unique, but it's not really clear on the packaging that this was done, I thought it it was just normal fish oil. I'm not super comfortable with this new food that people don't know a ton about while other foods like Flax etc. have been around forever. In addition the 400mg could have gone towards providing EPA which would have made this supplement much much better. So it's kind of interesting but I have to ask why vegan omega 3 was added when the whole point of that is that it doesn't compare vs getting DHA.I liked the nice glass bottle but the logo and name didn't appeal to me. It's in much smaller lettering that it's vegan and it has a nautical theme that's almost meant to trick people into thinking they are traditional fish oil pills. I wish they were more obvious about that in the packaging and the fact that they added the "Ahiflower" oil. This is a decent DHA dosage but I have been taking one pill only because I'm concerned about how I'll react long term to the Ahiflower oil which much isn't known about. I may end up giving it to my husband because of this. Would really like to just have seen the few vitamins and more EPA.

Cut out the smelly, scaly middle man...wait, I meant fish...the middle fish...
Thankful to have a quality vegan option for omega 3, especially with the winter months soon upon us because its been show to help with SAD, seasonal affective disorder. Basically it's a depression brought on by the change of season & I've been wanting to try omegas for that reason. But I'm vegetarian and I just hadn't made the effort to research a veg/vegan omega 3 alternative. Then I was thankfully offered this to try & it forced me to dive deep into the vegan sea of omegas. This formulation and brand seems to be top of the line, in every way...from the sourcing of ingredients right down to the packaging. What I learned is that the best source of EPA & DHA is algae NOT fish oil. Fish eat algae which is likely the reason fish/fish oil is high in omega 3s.So cut out the smelly, scaly middle man...errr fish...and go straight to the source.Get your omega 3s from algal oil (which is derived from algae). It seems to be the more effective & efficient choice for supplementing your diet with quality omega 3s.I like this formula & their manufacturering standards.I think this is an excellent choice for vegans, vegetarians AND meat eaters alike.I hope my humble opinion helps you in some way. Thank you for reading.

Packed with Omega-3's and NO fish burps!
My husband and I have been taking Omega-3's for years for heart health and this is the first time we are trying a plant based product. I have always purchased fish oil so this was a nice change of pace. The soft gels are on the larger side but from what I can remember, every fish oil/Omega-3 supplement that we have tried has been on the larger side. However, the super smooth gel coating prevents them from getting stuck in your throat. While they look a bit large at first sight, they really aren't difficult to swallow at all. Trust me, if they were hard to swallow, my husband would be choking on them, LOL. He isn't a big pill person and he has no problem with these at all.No fishy taste or the dreaded fish burps since they are plant based. WOO HOO!!! That is one thing that I LOVE about these because those dreaded fish burps can be awful at times!I love the packaging. The product comes packaged securely and the bottle itself is glass. Glass bottles always feel fancier and higher quality for some reason!I have a sensitive system and some supplements can make me queasy, even when taken with food. I didn't experience any digestive upsets after taking these.

Wiley's is always excellent quality, but this one is not for us: dose is 2 soft gels, gets spendy
Ok, I'll admit, I got sucked into the hype around the fishing industry right now and wanted to try a catch free product. I am a big fan of Wiley's, their quality of fish oil is amazing, my usual Wiley's purchase is their Wild Alaskan that has 650mg of omegas with K2 D3, sort of a one stop and done. Unlike my usual, this Catchfree Wiley's has a serving size of two capsules to get the dose of 725mg of omegas which is a little more than my squall Wiley's product, it has the K2 that my usual Wiley's has, E which my usual does not, but only half the D3 of my usual Wiley's. I think my maim complaints are that this is a two capsule dose and only a one month supply. Since the label was not posted in the product information I was not able to make an informed choice when deciding to order this. it just makes for a lot of pills in the morning and it nearly doubles our omega expense, which is pretty rough since our whole family takes omegas daily. Will be going back to our usual Wiley's Wild Alaskan product.
