Sleep Shepherd Blue - A Wearable Sleep Aid and Tracker with Soothing Alarm with iOS/Android App

Super upset right now, this is quite possibly the worst item I've bought on Amazon ever. It seemed to work until I woke up to a "knocking" sound beating against my forehead. I tried it again and the same thing. What's worse, after a week, apparently I can't even return it. Save you money and don't by this POS.

Very cheap construction. Extremely uncomfortable, the sound quality is terrible. It does absolutely nothing to help or assist with sleep or the quality of sleep, and the app has very little value.You also can not return the item, even though almost everything else on amazon is eligible for return....hmmm. Seems pretty suspect that this product is so below par on virtually every metric you could measure, and it is also not eligible to be returned.....perhaps the makers are quite aware of this products quality and function and make sure you are stuck with them once you purchase.I strongly recommend that you do not buy this product as i am sure that you will be disappointed with it.

The size and form factor are nice, but my husband just didn't like the product. He did not like the blue noise, and said that even if he had liked the sound, it did not drown out any other sounds in the room. He could hear everything. These may work like magic for some people, but my husband, who admittedly is a light sleeper, did not like them at all.

Not quite comparable with the broken Zeo which it replaced. Sleep Sheperd Bleu has weaker data gathering but a gentle urging towards sleep Overall I have better sleep. There are some minor problems to be worked out. The connection with meditation methods is interesting. Well worth the cost.

It is really a great idea and helps to manage my sleep better. In general I'm a person who wants to use his time as efficient as possible (driving outside of traffic congestion, shopping at unusual time etc., eating using a filled refrigerator etc.). But sleep - 7/24 of my whole life - was "unorganized". I would not say that I have frequent sleeping issues, I never used any pills etc. but sometimes I have good sleep, sometimes I have trouble to start sleeping or I wake up in the middle of the night and have issues falling to sleep quickly again. And the worst is the alarm clock in the middle of a deep sleep. After a bad sleep I feel tired, but I don't even why - hard to make it better!Sleep Shepherd changed this instantly and permanently. The daily feedback how I really slept is just great, the alarm mode, always waking up in a non-deep-sleep cycle, relaxes the start of the day, the sound which makes me tired really works within a few minutes. I used it also in oversee (Europe) for one week. Usually I'm not hardly affected with jet leg, but sometimes in other time zones I woke up in the middle of the night and "the sleep is over". Sleep Shepherd prevented this perfectly. I must admit I'm already addicted using it (in a positive way).Now the design flaws. I accept that this is a totally new product and I guess the developers in their excitement oversaw some details. (1) the biggest issue is that you have to use your cell phone right before start sleeping. I don't want having my cell phone on my night stand due radiation. So before I can start sleep I have to walk to my home office (where I charge my cell phone) just to activate my sleep! For example, this makes it difficult reading a book in the bed in order falling to sleep. And using a cell phone just before sleep is in a general not a good idea (even the instruction of Sleep Shepherd warns about this in "Sleep Hygiene Tips": Limit Use of Electronics). Same issue in the morning: The first thing after I wake up is going into the home office and read back the data. Instead of just shut of the alarm and do this later. Enhancement: Replace the on/off switch with a single on/activate/deactivate/off button. With "on" you download the sleep cycle from the cell phone, with "activate" you practically start sleeping without a cell phone, with "deactivate" you shut off the alarm without deleting the data, "off" could also be activated remotely after the cell phone has read the data. (2) This solves another flaw: It is easy to switch off the whole device in the middle of the sleep by touching the on/off switch. This deactivates the alarm so you could oversleep. Solution: The "deactivate" of my proposed 4-mode button has to be pressed 5 seconds before the sleep control ends. And the button should be recessed, so it cannot be touched erroneously by laying with the head on it etc. (3) Sometimes the communication between the phone app and the device fails and the phone is unable to download the sleep data. The recommended "off/on/off" switch usage restarts then again sometimes a new sleep, losing the previous data. Overwriting data should be more carefully activated, for example not without a user confirmation until the last sleep data is really saved. (4) The device does not really eliminate surrounding noise. While the humming in the loudspeakers takes most of the disturbance of outside noise away, sudden changes (driving fire siren, dog barking, human yelling etc.) still can distract the sleep. But normal noise cancellation technique (ear plugs etc.) no longer can be used. I would suggest that Sleep Shepherd provides additional flat noise reduction pillows, which could be attached outside at the device over the ears to eliminate any hearing of outside noise. (5) The USB Micro-B connector is in 180 degree in contrast to widely-used cell phones and most other USB devices. This should be changed or replaced with an unidirectional USB-C connector.

So difficult to definitively say if it is working. Forehead positioning is important to get a good eeg signal. Seems people perceive it to be working whereas others claim no impact. The positional data would be better if on a timeline to help associate with CPAP and time of night events. Watch return policy with 3rd party. If in doubt contact them first. We had an issue.

Upon arriving in the mail, we took the time to read the user manual. The manual is concise and only takes about 10 minutes to read. The information is exceedingly useful in not just using the Sleep Shepherd, but understanding the science behind it as well. My husband and I have both woken up absolutely refreshed and energized by using the Sleep Shepherd's alarm. The alarm actually wakes you up gently and the binaural beats speed up and actually wake up your brain. We both struggle with ADHD which makes waking up intensely difficult for both of us. The Sleep Shepherd has become a miracle to our mornings.Moreover, we absolutely love being able to track not just our sleep, but our sleep orientations, quality, and percentages of deep vs. light sleep.We are absolutely excited to improve our sleep quality.Another bonus, the binaural beats sound reminiscent of white noise, which makes falling asleep so peaceful and enjoyable. I find that the binaural beats actually help me fall asleep faster after I wake up to use the restroom at night.This product is fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their sleep quality. I find that I'm so much cheerier after having a better night's rest due to the Sleep shepherd. This is some of the best money we've ever spent.
