You should probably spend more, but on a budget it's great
This is a tough one. Part of me wants to give it 3 stars. It's got a lot of extraneous crap. Like the little wooden spoon is adorable and all, but it's just added weight and you feel like you are gonna get burned every time you use it. A carved stick doesnt need to be washed. The little collapsible cups are so cute and compact and light that they are hard to hate. They do fall over easily though. The bowls are kinda silly but light and useable. But for $20, I had to give it 5 stars. The handles really don't melt, they fold up nicely. They are pretty sturdy. I've used them directly over a camp fire and had no issues. The bag is cheap and I wouldn't recommend hanging it on your pack, but it protects your gear from dirty pans and keeps it all together. Personally I don't bother with the frying pan, I found a strap with a clip laying around, and I just fill the pot full of bits and bobs and cinch the lid on tight. I wouldn't buy another one but I don't regret buying it

A good starter kit
I just finished using this on a 3 day backpacking trip in the mountains. Overall I really like the product. There is actually enough room in the kettle to add in my backpack stove, igniter, and universal canister stand. The silicone handles stayed cool to the touch when cooking with them. With that said there are three improvements I would like to have. 1) the pot needs a bird mouth on it so you can pour water out of it easily. Please put one on both sides for those of us who are left handed and hold everything backwards in a right handed world. 2) the side opposite the handles needs to be weighted so that you can place them empty on a backpacking stove and not have them fall off because the weight of the handles (when open) make them unbalanced and tip off the stove. They are empty so not a big deal, just annoying. I am going to find a heat resistant epoxy and attach some pine wood derby car weights to them to solve this problem. 3) put graduations or volumetric labels on the contents of this kit so you can measure out water. the blows are one cup but I had to find that out for myself.I am likely going to take out the cups, ladle, sporks and bowls. They are just too small to be practical. The sporks are nice and compact but they are too short to eat dehydrated meals out of the bag. I am okay with using the balance of the kit as the basis for building my own kit with longer sporks, plates and bowls.

Nice kit for the money.
Great little kit! Size seems a bit bigger than most people might like for backpack camping but perfect for personal use with a small stove at a campground. The sports are a nice addition even though the handle pins that go into the store head are a bit short causing the handle to slip out of the holes on the head. Not a big deal but some might find that a problem.I really like the collapsing cups! Real space saver! The metal is a bit thicker than the stainless steel kit I have but I am a bit concerned if the coating on this set will flake off. I purchased a nylon spatula and spoon to cook with but in the back of my mind, the finish is a concern. The lid. Perfect fit! All this and a bag to stuff it in.

The Perfect Mess Kit
If you are on the fence about this or doing product comparisons, your search is over. This is now one of my favorite pieces of gear. Took this kit on a 3-night camping trip with my girlfriend and it was absolutely perfect. It had everything we needed. The only thing we added was a small, flexible spatula. We used it mostly on a metal grate over the coals, but sometimes we used the pots directly in the coal fire and it worked great. Everything in the kit feels very sturdy and the handles on the pots and utensils all lock into place which I really liked. The metal feels and looks like high quality. I love the nice orange color and the carrying bag. I don't know what else to say except that I couldn't be happier. Thank you for making this product!!I will add that if you're someone with a bigger appetite or more than a party of 2 then you will probably have to cook in batches because of the compact size. It's very small and light.

Great kit, but not complete
To start, this is a good kit and I would recommend. The pots are good material and don't have some cheap coating on them. The handles feel solid and the pan is wider than most mess kit pans. The pop out cups are pretty nice too and not flimsy. The bag is slightly over sized so I was able to put the small fuel can on top of the pots and close it in the bag.My issue with this kit was one of the two sporks did not come with a handle. I got one with a handle and another without so basically useless. Also as much as I like how the bag stand up I would have preferred a different material or mesh as I don't see it lasting as long as it should (could be wrong though).I would get this again but don't buy it at the last minute like I did. Give yourself some time incase it's missing something

Not non-stick..
This is not non-stick cookware! You can probably add oil to the pan before cooking but that defeats the purpose of non-stick! I'm so glad I tested it out before I left for my trip. My other complaint is though the pans are stackable there is nothing to hold them together other than the bag.. Better hope it never rips..

smaller than you would think
I bought these as an last minute add on to some camping gear I was buying for my daughter and son in-law. It looked like a set I had when I camped a lot and I remember liking them for packing. However the pans are too small to really be useful. Too bad. Check the dimensions - maybe they'd be good for backpacking? But for car camping I'd get a more useable set with larger pots.
