I've been using the original spiral pins for many years, but wanted more since one bun can utilize 6-9 pins at a time. I was hesitant to buy a different brand because the originals have worked so well. Surprisingly, these from Amazon work even a bit better for my thick, coarser, wavy, & a lot of hair. Why? These are a bit wider in diameter than the original brand; the wider width accommodates my type of hair well. The original, slightly narrower ones work just fine, but these wider diameter ones grip a lot of hair better.Therefore, I can see why some reviewers don't like these. If one has finer, thinner, or not a ton of hair, the original brand may work better. I would recommend these for those who may have thicker or more hair.Now, I just use both these & the originals (mix & match) -- My bun doesn't move or loosen at all throughout the entire day when using these kinds of spiral pins.I read reviewers also state that they try not to cross the spiral pins, but I find that crossing - thereby locking - them can create a good, firm hold.Inevitably, the coating may scratch off a bit (as they have for my originals after 8+ yrs) but they're completely hidden in the hair and no one can see, and having the coating come off the originals hasn't caused any snagging of my hair. Let's hope these from Amazon stay snag-free as well!

These pins work so well. They are shorter than the other ones I had before from a different company. I have super thick long hair so they do work well, just wish they were half and inch longer.

I have to wear my hair up a lot for work and these are incredibly easy to use and they last all day! Love them !!!

So much better than regular Bobbie pins for thick and long hair. Bought a set of three years ago and lost one while on vacation and have been frantic to replace. Amazon to the rescue. They come in a nice case and there are several so if I loose any in the future I won’t have to panic. They are a little shorter than my previous ones and that is an awesome feature bc it makes them more versatile to use. And bc there are more of them I’m not restricted to styles that take three, I can use more to achieve other updos. They are awesome for everyday styles but can be used for prom, dance recitals and wedding hair too!

Thinner metal than expected and poor coating on all of them which leaves at least one rough spot on each pin in various locations (can be an issue when removing them from your hair).However, good price, container is large but fine.Not amazing but they'll work.

I love this type of spinable pin! Nothing works so well to hold my super fine hair in a bun. Far better than any bobby pin I've ever tried! I can securely hold my hair in a variety of twists and buns with just 3 pins in most cases. I don't need any elastics or other ties and I'm completely confident in the hold. One of the best benefits in using these instead of elastics or heavy clips is that the weight of my hair and tension on my scalp is minimized. I don't get a headache from the tension and weight as I so often would using other fasteners. I love these things! I got this set to try a project with them using bake-able clay to adhere decorative sculpted mushrooms to the ends of the pins. I can't wait to try making them!
