My Review
I've had very mixed feelings about this product. We bought it for my daughter's 2nd birthday in hopes that she'd no longer have to come to me 20x each day and ask me to play her favorite songs on the computer. Well, she LOVES it. In fact, all of my kids (2 to 9) love it. We had no problems at all loading music onto the player and the current firmware was already on the player. I really like the volume limiting feature.We had a couple of hiccups that were resolved:1. The player turned itself on. I quickly figured out that the wake-up feature was turned on. I don't know if this was default or not, but after turning it off, this didn't happen again.2. The player would not power on. I used a paperclip to access the reset switch as another reviewer recommended. I had to do this 3 or 4 times in one day, but since then, it's worked for 8 or 9 days and I haven't had to reset it.Why I'm returning it:The headphone jack does not work properly. I was specifically looking for a player that had both an external speaker as well as headphone ability and this was one of only a couple that I found. However, already on day 2, the jack would only power one side of the headphones unless it was fiddled with and then held precisely in that place. This clearly wasn't going to work for a 2-year-old, but she didn't seem to mind, so we continued using it. At about day 8, the headphones would no longer silence the external speaker. This was the deal-breaker for me. I tested with other headphones with the same result. This one is going back, but I will be trying a replacement since I haven't really found any equivalents to this product.UPDATE 7/24/16I've now had a long-term relationship with this product and thought I'd give an update. As mentioned, my original purchase was returned and replaced. With the 2nd, I also purchased the Square Trade warranty. The unit worked as expected for over a year. The headphone jack was still unreliable, but everything else worked reliably. It's downfall was being left outside on a very humid night at which point it would not power on or charge. I filed a "drops and spills" claim with Square Trade, sent them the unit, and received a check in return. After a few questions about the whereabouts of her "radio", I went ahead and ordered another player for my daughter. We've had it a couple of weeks and so far it's worked 100% as promised -- even with the headphones!I actually came here to order a blue one to give as a gift, but the price is too high right now.

My 2 year old's favorite Christmas gift! Just make sure you look at all the options when opening the device to upload music!!
I think most people that are having problems with this are choosing the first option "real player" or something similar. When you look further down the options there is an "open it" option. I originally used the first option and it crashed multiple times then my more tech savvy husband showed how I should be opening it to add music on and it worked perfect. Was able to click and g=drag from iTunes easily. We were able to load it up and she opened it Christmas morning. She loves and can operate it mostly herself at 2.

Two strikes and you're out, I don't need a third.
DO NOT BUY THIS!The company that sold me this, Electronica Direct, has excellent customer service and that's the only positive experience I had with this product. My FIRST unit worked on a full charge for about 45 minutes, and then would not power on. I charged it again, pressed the reset button, and it worked...for about 10 minutes. I contacted Electronica Direct about the issue and they promptly sent a new unit to us. In the interim, the first unit started making this weird clicking noise that went on for a couple of hours; this happened again randomly two weeks later. My second unit arrived and with a full charge worked for about 15 minutes. Piece(s) of junk!It's really too bad because my 2.5 year old daughter LOVED it, it was easy for her to manipulate and the alarm features are a great idea. Too bad the production is terrible.

it is very easy to use and has a good sound. Battery is the weak spot.
This is the second unit we bought. The first wouldn't charge anymore. Now the second has a hard time switching on. I have to press the on switch and hold it again and again until it finally starts up. Meanwhile our son gets very frustrated.On the bright side once it runs, it is very easy to use and has an ok sound.If the company could fix the technical problems, that would be 5 stars.-----------------------------------------Electronica Direct replaced the defective unit and the new unit is much improved. It switches on much faster, it seems they have solved the battery problems.The usability is great. Our son can easily select the next song, or repeat the current song. Only 3 buttons make it easy to use. He loves his player and carries it around everywhere.If he wants a new song. I simply copy the mp3 file to the player using USB.the display is big enough and it displays the number of the song in big letters as well in smaller letters artist and song name.For such a small unit the sound of the speaker is actually good. And you could use the headphone jack if you wanted to connect external speakers.-------------------------------------------------------Update: after less then one year, the battery is no longer charging. This is the weak point, everything else is great. I don't know of any other portable mp3 player with a speaker that is real easy to use, if there is one please let me know.

Player stopped working after less than 2 months and manufacturer is unresponsive
Just have others have reviewed, Sweet Pea Toys is completely unresponsive when their product malfunctions. I sent the following message 5 weeks ago when I opened a ticket. "We purchased the SweetPea3 (v.2.0) 4 GB MP3 Player on Amazon back in March. Last month, the alarm began going off daily at 2pm despite the fact that we had never set it. I looked through all the alarms and saw they were all set to off. Somehow me doing this reset things and it stopped for a few days. Then it started going off daily at 8pm. This ran the battery dead and we charged it. Since taking it off the charger today, the player does not work at all." This went unanswered, as did 2 more follow up messages. Today, I finally took the issue up with Amazon, as I should have done originally. They sent me a return label immediately and will be refunding my money.Before the player stopped working, my daughter (3) loved the Sweet Pea and listened to it almost daily. We're all sad that it is no longer working.
