I happen know a few things about pencils. I'm an avid pencil collector, after all.I bought this pencil with the hopes that it would live up to its hyped-up description.A few points caught my attention:- It's said to be handcrafted.- It's made with "Exacting Attention to Detail where Quality, Fit and Finish is primary"- Finest graphite- It's said to be made of "Redwood" with a wonderful scent, reminiscent of days past.- The box says in bold: "Thank you for buying from an American company"So how does the actual product stack up to these claims?Sadly, it does not. Here's what I observed:- It's not handcrafted in any way. It's a mass-produced pencil made in China with nothing in the details, the fit and finish, that is noteworthy.- The pencil resembles a Dixon Ticonderoga, yellow color with a distinctive green ferrule with two yellow bands. I briefly wondered if this product was made in the China Dixon factory. I doubt it because of the poor fit and finish. If it is a rebranded Ticonderoga, it's a poorly made blatant counterfeit at best.- About half of pencils in the box had off-centered leads (leads to poor sharpening performance). The aluminum ferrules were pressed into the tip of the wood leaving uneven, curled up bits of wood that lends to a messy, sloppy finished tip.- Erasers are minimal in size, poorly secured in the ferrule, with below average erasing performance.- The imprinting of the lettering/logos and the paint job is no better than any generic cheapie pencil mass produced for dollar shops.- The graphite is definitely unremarkable, with a writing performance that is unspectacular in any way. The tonal value is decent, but the feel and smoothness of the lead is squarely generic, on the scratchy side, nothing memorable at all, certainly far from being "Finest".- The wood...now this is where I was most disappointed. I was curious if this was actually a pencil crafted from redwood. Most pencils are made of cedar (generally speaking, nowadays higher grade pencils tend to be cedar), or basswood (i.e. "lumber"). Cedar pencils are nice, aromatic and smell "reminiscent of days past". Basswood smells and looks like...lumber.- This wood is definitely not redwood in the expected sense of the word, meaning made out of redwood species.- The wood appears to have been dyed red. It smells just like basswood / lumber. There is nothing nostalgic about the scent. In brief, I would not recommend anyone buy this pencil, as the product is not as described. The actual product is no better than a throw-away generic cheapie pencil found in any grocery store. There are plenty of options for high quality, modern pencils in production for less cost, or vintage pencils with amazing quality and workmanship. Stay away from this one.

These pencils are the best on the market
These pencils are the best on the market: they sharpen easily whether by hand or electronic sharpener and to a very fine point. the lead doesn't break off easily like a lot of other pencils. and the eraser also works great. Reliable and a great buy! Very happy...
