Illustrations are beautiful; the text is straightforward for all young kids
I have been using this book in several pre-K and K-5 classrooms where I teach mindfulness. Illustrations are beautiful; the text is straightforward for all young kids. Kids just love it, and they easily understand how a puppy behaves and doesn't always listen when we ask it to be still. It gives young students comfort to read that it is normal for our minds to act like puppies. This is a great book to teach kids that with practice it is possible to train our mind to stay in the present moment for a while, just like a puppy learns over time.

My 4 year old loves this book
This book is so cute, sweet, easy to read, long enough but not too long, and my son loves it. I don’t think he quite understands the symbolism but it has a great message and I love reading it to him. Definitely one of our favorites.

Great book to reinforce self-regulation
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and use this book with kids exhibiting difficulty with attention, distractibility and anxiety. Great illustrations and content which allows kids to use their imagination and creativity.

We loved the book so much we purchase 4 more copies ...
We loved the book so much we purchase 4 more copies as gifts. Puppy Mind is a playful take on Monkey Mind a common Buddhist teaching about the mind jumping from thought to thought. Puppies are more relatable for children and the illustrations are top notch! Mr. Nance's rhyme cadence in the story telling is captivating and fun! If you have a child who has a puppy mind this book is for you. Even if they don't its a great story book!

Great book for kids with ADHD or for those who have friends with ADHD.
Great book for young kids (and adults) with ADHD. Does a great job of putting into words how your mind feels when you have ADHD. Your mind is trainable, it just takes time (like a puppy). Would highly recommend.

Excellent Book!
This is an absolutely fantastic book. As someone who has dealt with anxiety as an adult, I know it when I saw it starting to appear in my four year-old daughter. This book was an excellent explanation of how your mind might run around, thinking things you don’t necessarily want it to. It also references your mind as the puppy dog, a lovable animal that doesn’t fully have to be your identity — just like the thoughts in your mind don’t have to completely define you.

Great illustrations
Our 20 month old is learning strategies to calm his body (his emotions are EXTRA high lately) and this book has done a great job of introducing him to that concept. Although I feel like the overall message is for a child a few years older than him, he still loves the large, bright illustrations and that of course there's a puppy on each page. I think by the time he's 3 or 4, he'll truly understand and be able to apply the lesson of "mindfulness" that this book teaches.

Puppy mind a beautiful story
My granddaughter loves the story and the illustrations are spectacular. It is her favorite book she is always asking for it tp be read, she has memorized the words now and she is only 2 years old. She takes a breathe when the story says to. The puppy mind is lovely.
