The trend lately is to make desk lamps smaller and focused on a relatively smaller area. I have such a task light for my home office desk and use it daily. But there are times I need something that lights up the entire desk area, sometimes I need a little light and sometimes I need a lot. The room's ceiling light is too inconvenient and besides I don't want to light up the entire room. Add to that I a picky about my decor and most light fixtures are too unattractive. When I saw this I knew in a second that it would be for me. It doesn't look like a lamp at all and as a writer how could I not want to have a black raven perched on a wall shelf behind me?APPEARANCEThe raven is actual size for a bird of its kind, not too large and not too small. The detailing is surprisingly realistic from feathers to its piercing eyes. It is substantially heavy so it perches on the shelf with confidence that it will not tip. It doesn't look like a lamp because it's not, it is a raven sculpture that happens to have a slightly open beak that has just captured an equally dark cord to which dangles at one end an unadorned black light socket which in turn holds a plain crystal clear globe that glows from a faint glimmer no brighter than a candle to a brilliance that shines like the sun. The other end of the cord drapes out of sight behind a bookshelf toward a standard electrical wall plug. About mid-way on the cord itself is a rotary dial that provides continuously adjustable power to the bulb. You can move the cord from the raven's mouth at any time to have the bulb hang higher or lower to your preference.THE BULBI don't understand the anxiety of some reviewers who lead off stressing about ordering spare bulbs. The included bulb is perfectly matched to the look of this combo, crystal clear with a fully dimmable vintage exposed filament. Being an LED it can last a very long time, maybe 20,000 hours. Why would anyone have an urgent need for spares? Likewise changing the bulb for a different look - tastes vary and that's fine but the bulb that comes with it is such a perfect match to the overall look of this as being a piece of art personally I have no need to install a more utilitarian bulb or one that detracts from the overall theme.THINGS TO KNOWI like everything about this item and I'm sure it will be in my home for a long time. My only pointer hint is for the rotary dial dimmer control. While it works perfectly when you get to the off end of the dial you have to keep turning more than usual until you reach the click that indicates the power is totally off. That may confuse some people into thinking there isn’t an off switch. I address that by using one of those simple on-off plug in switches which has the advantage when I turn that switch on the brightness is just where I had it set previously.YES OR NOAnything that’s artistic in nature is a reflection of our personal taste, therefore a review of it is only an opinion. I can only advise you that this is everything the ad promised. It was sent with an abundance of care to arrive in perfect condition. The carving is of high quality, well detailed and worth the price. The bare bulb lights up the entire area around my workstation without glare which is exactly what I wanted and the light is fully dimmable. There may be similar raven lamps but this one seems to be the only one with an inline dimmer and for that reason I recommend considering it.

Not only is it cute but functional. Live the fact that it has a dimmer on it to use as a nightlight as well.

I absolutely love this lamp. It already comes with the rustic bulbs which is a plus and the knob is adjustable so you can choose how bright you want it. Pretty sturdy base so you don't have to worry about it tipping over. The details are exactly how you expect them to be.

I am really enjoying this lamp. I am a bird fanatic, Ravens included. I was disappointed that the bulb was broken when I opened the box. It would appear someone else returned it and it was not checked upon return. I purchased replacement bulbs on amazon and am very happy with my purchase overall. The lamp looks great on my bookshelf in the hallway.

This product didn't work out of the box. I assumed the (included) light bulb was the problem. I purchased replacement bulbs and none work.The lamp itself is very cute, but cannot get it to work.I purchased this in May as a Christmas gift, so unfortunately, I am unable to return it.

I think the lamp is cute and it works well. More cheaply made than I anticipated.

I love this lamp so much! I keep it in my bathroom and keep the light dim for taking a bath! Just get it!

I really want to love this, but when I set it up the cord wouldn’t stay in place so I took another recommendation and hot glued it place. That worked until I plugged it in, the ravens too light weight, it tipped over, the bulb broke, the beak broke off. I had a terrible time finding the right replacement bulb, the sockets small, finally found one ( another$10) and glued the beak back on. Hoping it doesn’t tip again.

Shorted out first try on arrival. Too bad as it was a gift. The crow is cool but lighting fixture is cheap.
