VirbacCET HEXtra Premium Oral Hygeine for Dogs, under 11 lbs(Pack of 1)

The vet recommended this product and I've been using it with my dogs for years. My late shetland sheepdog used these daily and never needed a single teeth cleaning. My current chihuahua started using these after I adopted her and I noticed a huge improvement in her teeth within a few days. Her teeth became whiter and her bad breath totally went away. These are meant for more medium sized dogs but my chihuahua is a very aggressive chewer. I cut these in half for her with garden shears and she'll finish a piece in about 20 minutes depending on the thickness of the piece. As others have mentioned, it's frustrating that the thickness of the pieces varies a lot and some batches are a lot darker brown than others. I wish there was more consistency in their product but I continue buying it because of how effective it is for dental health.

These oral hygiene chews are wonderful for removing tartar on our dogs’ teeth. Our pets love them and it has helped with keeping their teeth healthy. The sizing is just right for our small pets and they like the taste. Highly recommend these chews.

Our dog absolutely loves these and he waits for one every night. The price is pretty high and the sizes are so inconsistent. The thickness will vary from treat to treat ranging from 5 minutes of chew time to about 30 minutes (very rare). Our dog is a 72 lb German Shepherd and he’s not a power chewer. The only plus to these is if used consistently they really do improve the appearance of your dogs teeth. I’ve noticed his teeth are much whiter and less build up. We’re seeing better results with these vs nightly brushing. We’ve never had an issue with choking or digestion. We’ve gone through several bags now and although the size differences annoy me I do see an improvement in his teeth.

My pet suffers from periodontic disease and requires a veterinarian dental surgeon (big bucks!). The surgeon recommended these as they have a film on them that coats the teeth and prevents bacteria and plaque from building up. After 6 months, I can see NO plaque build up on any of my dogs. I use this in conjunction with Oravet chews, which supplements with a different film. VERY HAPPY WITHE THE RESULTS!

My hound (72lbs) has been getting a Virbac CET rawhide chew after dinner every night for the past two years. We alternate between the regular CET chews and the more expensive HEXtras; he loves both. It is not an exaggeration to say getting his chewy is the high point of his day. They have also made a visible difference in his dental health. His teeth and gums are healthy and get a thumbs-up from his vet.They are an expensive habit, but I figure over the long run it is a net gain in terms of his health and comfort (annually it also comes out to less money than a dental service, and the associated risk inherent to sedation for a senior dog).

I have had my Chihauhau mix on this for 6 years now: she gets a half in the morning and the other half at night. Anyone who has had a Chihauhau will tell you they tend to have really bad problem with tartar buildup, and since they are wonderfully long-lived that can be a major problem. This stuff really helps with that. And when I tell you that she goes completely MENTAL over these things, I am not exaggerating. It is hands down her favorite ‘treat’ and the plus is it also keeps her teeth in excellent shape. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

Have been giving these to my boys for over 5 years. Once a day for "yappy hour". The recipe has changed. The chews are huge and thick, and too big for them. 18 and 28 lbs. Used medium or small size bag. Now they are made of something different and they chew them up within 5 minutes! Used to last 30-45 minutes. The huge overly thick ones they can't even chew. Price has gone way up from $19. Since a bag is supposed to be 30 chews it lasts less than 2 weeks throwing out the really thick ones. So I would not recommend this product anymore. So sad because the boys love them.
