Q: can it be cut with scissors or are special cutters needed?

Think it would be rather difficult to cut with scissors, the mat is thick and has a rubber backing. Maybe a stanley knife would manage it.

Q: Does this matting shed/moult/drop a lot of coir strands? How long does shedding last in ordinary daily use?

Very little in the way of shedding at all, and mu e 8s in constant use. I have four dogs, one of which likes to wipe/kick her feet up on it, and two cats who like to sharpen their claws on it, and barely a fibre shed. This is really good quality kit, dense and heavy duty. Hope this gelps

Sorry I did not use. I decided to have coir matting fitted by an expert as I wasn’t sure if this would fray.

They don’t appear to be bonded and I have been using mine for about 3 month now- heavy use and it’s not fraying. It does moult to start with….
