A Treasure of Cultural & Herbal Information (WORTH BUYING)
Truly a great book to have. I am sure that this is the first time that much of this information has ever been in print before. This is a real treasure to have all of this information in one place. In the past, so much of this knowledge had to be passed down from generation to generation, by word of mouth. In a world where our medicine is produced by the big pharmacy companies, and our foods are super processed. This book brings back how to use what was given to us in God’s Creation, and not things made or processed by man. The title Herbalist’s Bible is a very appropriate title for this book. Much like the early parts of the Bible written by Moses. The Bible helps us to understand the culture of Jews. This book also helps us to understand so much about the culture of The American Indian. Even the portions that describe what herb to use for spells, charms, and incantations are nothing I am interested in. But, it does give a good insight into the culture and past, as well as the spiritual aspects and history of the culture. I grew up in the heart of what used to be the Sioux Indian Land. It was so common to find Arrowheads and other artifacts in plowed cornfields. Surely they must have been burial grounds before the Pioneers leveled and plowed them over. The 1862 Sioux Uprising occurred within a dozen miles of where I grew up in Central Minnesota. I still remember when I was young, an elderly woman telling me about why her Pioneer Grandmother was saved from being harmed. It was as the elderly woman said, “It was because my grandmother used to feed the Indians. She would bake two pies, and she would put them on the windowsill to cool. She said that the Indians knew they were allowed “to steal” one of them. That is why she and her family was spared from being killed.” This family knew the needs of the Indians, and the Indians knew that it was not acceptable to feed or give food to the Indians. But, this was acceptable to each of the cultures. The book is worth the price. I took mine to the office supply store and had it Spiral Bound. Bought two copies, one for my wife, and one for a gift. As well as good insight into the American Indian Culture. Thank you so much for sharing these insights, and family knowledge.

Definitely could be useful but not what I was looking for .
First off the information inside is for sure useful. I was shocked by one particular plant / vine called kudzu. As a person that grew up in yazoo County Mississippi and knowing that every house , building or tree in any part of the delta is covered in this stuff . Learning that the over evasive plant is useful was mine blowing. Never knew ! I'm sure just about every plant or herb has some sort of benefit isn't a shock but knowing what it's used for and how to prepare it is another . A lot of the material inside the book doesn't grow near me and that's mainly why I feel this book wasn't really for me .
