Excellent starting point for a beginning mtb-er
This Diamondback Overdrive HT is just what I needed! I live in an area with many opportunities for mountain bike riding, with lots of trails and access for bikes. I decided to give it a whirl, but upon checking prices for MTBs, was surprised to see how much money one can drop on a bike, even more "advanced" iterations of the Overdrive can top $2800. Well, after researching bikes online, particularly "best beginner mountain bikes," the Overdrive HT and similar versions were mentioned many times - and by many publications whose reviews were not simply a cut-and-paste of a DB press release (which some reviews certainly were). I decided to take up Amazon's offer of an open-box special, and pulled the trigger, receiving the bike last week. There was some light cosmetic damage to the bike (which Amazon rectified to much to my liking) and all the parts, tools and included literature were in the box on arrival. there was about 30 minutes of assembly and adjustment to be done before riding could start. Instructions for assembly were clear, and included tools were sufficient for assembly. Just follow the instructions and diagrams, and you'll be fine. I recommend consulting a pro to get the seat and handlebars adjusted for your posture, so that riding will be safe and pain-free. I also replaced the included seat with another MTB seat from Amazon, which I like a lot, and looks good on the bike.As for the bike, I have not yet found anything that I have asked it to do that it will not accomplish. The disc brakes are a very nice system that stops the bike confidently, and is easy to maintain and adjust. The 27.5-inch wheel eat up obstacles and terrain smoothly. Plus, the bike is good-looking, too. It is a very nice bike, especially for the price.

Great Bike - Diamondback needs to update their printed materials
my first one came damaged directly from Diamond Back - A huge gash in the bottom. The instructional video url that was in the manual was wrong- the phone number in the manual was wrong. I called Diamond Back and they laughed that I bought an old bike from Amazon. Its not an old bike - its the 2017 model - but the rude Diamondback employee made me ask for a manager. They sent me a free one and I returned the damaged one to Amazon! So what was negative became a positive. But Diamondback is too proud of their product and they need to come back to earth a little bit.The bike is awesome. Great quality! You feel invincible riding it. You have to get used to pressing the gear levers all the way for a proper a smooth shift. I recommend getting it and hope that you never have to call Diamondback - the phone number they print is wrong so you will have to google it to get the right number

They sent me the wrong bike, but that's ok.
After doing a fair amount of research, I settled on buying a Diamondback Overdrive. I purchased a red 27.5, and they sent me a black 29er. At first, I contemplated returning it but decided not to in the end. I'm glad I kept the 29er. It powers through a lot I think the 27.5 would have trouble with.A few notes:- Assembly was easy enough.- The stock seat is terrible.- Chain slap is a real thing on this bike. Order a neoprene guard and a guide.- The tires have good grip for New England terrain, but I suspect they'll wear out quickly.- Brakes are loud- Front derailleur needs a professional adjustment. You have to beg it to shift on the move.- It's an XC hardtail that wants to go downhill if you let it.- I immediately upgraded the pedals and handlebar. The fork will be replaced soon.- Overall a good value and fun bike to rip around on.

Great Bike
I haven't ridden a bike in years so I wanted something that was durable and the Diamondback is certainly that. It came packed really well and is easy to assemble but I do have to admit that it is heavier than I originally thought . other than that , the bike is a solid machine built for all sorts of terrain

Surprised
Purchased "used" for a great price, and found it to be packaged as new when it arrived. Assembly was very easy and straight forward. Everything worked after assembly. But I did have to adjust the rear derailleur a bit, which was also no trouble. The quality of the bike is exceeding my original expectations, from what I considered a high end Walmart bike. It is a beginners bike, and I'm sure nothing compared to other fancy bikes. But for a sub $500 bike, it's very nice so far. I mounted a rear rack, and tote my 2 year old son in a Thule seat, along with my 4 year old daughter in a pull behind. The triple crank is a plus. Very pleased with my purchase.

Very happy
Super fast delivery, love the color and the bike overall is great. If you have never worked on a bike before, it might be worth getting someone who has to put together, but they provided some good quality tools for the job. This is replacing my really old Mountain Bike, that was stolen, I wanted something capable of doing the odd trail etc. but my serious MB days are long gone! The Red is really nice, and the frame style is pretty cool as well, with decent components for the intended use.

Good bike so far for entry level price.
It didn’t come with instructions to assemble. There is a web video at diamondback bikes to help assemble. I bought this to replace a clanking Huffy I bought at the during the pandemic. Hopefully I get more than 6 months out of this one, but I think I will. It feels like a solid bike.

Great bike for entry level
So I came from a Gary Fisher, Mountain bike no doubt a very good bike. After giving it to my 28 year old son. I wanted another decent mountain bike after look at lots of reviews and shopping Bike stores. IMO I felt this was the right bike for me. I am 5-10 and the Medium frame fits perfect. The bike is easy to put together comes with tools. It is a little on heavy side , but not bad for entry level seems well built. I have had on one trail so far its great. would buy again.
