Seiko SRPG41 Watch
Fantastic watch. So far it is keeping perfect time and day/date. I love the watch look and the fit & finish. The band is very robust and looks like it should hold up very well.

You get what you pay for
Have been wearing this for about a week now in various settings and overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Here are a few of my thoughts. The looks: Yeah, I love this look. To me it looks like a cleaner Hamilton Khaki field (which is what this watch is going to be compared against by pretty much everyone including myself). Crazy super legible. I work in a field where I need to be able to look down and know the time in a split second, and this delivers. It fits on my smaller-than-average wrists quite nicely, is comfortable, and not noticeably heavy at all. A tad thick for days I am wearing dress shirts as it sometimes doesn't slide under the cuff quite so easily. The hardlex crystal is quite domed and when looking at the watch face at more than a 45degree angle will distort (though I kinda like this look). However, I was kinda expecting this thing to be more of a strap-monster than what I am finding it to be. Apart from various black bands (like the decent calf-skin leather band that comes with it - which is much nicer than the metal bracelets of the other SRPG models), really only single shade straps seem to work with it, and I haven't liked any of the brown straps that I have tried on it. I included a few pics of it in various straps.Lume: Kinda disappointing to be honest. Hard to see the indices. I also don't think the lume lasts nearly as long as my other (more expensive) Seiko's. I like that they lumed the second hand though. Had they lumed the numerals and upgraded nothing else it really would have made this a no brainer at this price. The Movement: Greatly improved over past Seiko 5's I've owned. I love being able to manually wind and have second hacking. I think without these upgrades it just couldn't grab enough market share from the Khaki fields. I'm currently getting bout +5 seconds a day, which I can definitely live with.Other thoughts: I love the drilled lugs. Makes changing bands super easy. Had I gone with one of the silver steel options I think it would be more versatile with more colorful bands. At this price you are going to be hard pressed to find a sapphire crystal watch that looks like this, so I am a bit worried about scratching it up.The Hamilton Khaki fields that to me looks the closest to this watch is the Titanium Auto H70665533 (which is significantly more money and a 42mm), and the Khaki Field mechanical, which is still about $200 more than this Seiko SRPG41. The Khaki fields are arguably some of the best bang for your bucks available, but again are more expensive. I decided to go with the SRPG41 as I just liked the look of the dial more than the Khaki field enough to want to save myself a few hundred bucks.I think for the price you are paying, you are getting your money's worth. It's good watch; just nothing super special unless you are like me and love how it looks.

Worth it
I was looking for a black automatic watch. This one is well priced in the segment. Very legible dial. Good lume. See through case back. Keeps time as well as expected.

Versatile and sturdy field watch
Strap monster, able to use it for just about any occasion given a single strap change. Sturdy, has been worn for weeks on end while using power tools and working with corrosive chemicals and is still completely unscathed. Accurate to about -5 seconds per day even with heavy use.

Looses time
5 months on, it is loosing time. Now I have to chase down repair. (this is a self winding watch, not battery powered) I bought it based in large point because of Seiko's reputation. Opps...

Very accurate mechanical watch.
My Seiko SRPG41 has only lost around 4 seconds in the last week since I got it. Pretty darn good for a mechanical watch, almost quartz territory.Seiko doesn't supply an owners manual so you need to go to their website and download the PDF. It took me a few tries to get the Day, Date and Time set correctly, the owner's manual helped a lot. This watch has a hack feature so you can set it very accurately.Otherwise not much else to say. For around $200 you get a world class mechanical automatic watch. Make sure you get the Made in Japan model.

Dial is BARELY brown if that matters to you.
The dial is basically black—almost indiscernibly brown in person, when I was looking for the gradient coloration of the dial shown in the photos to be more pronounced.Other than that, awesome watch. Quality materials. Not much else to say about a Seiko. They just work.
