Don't know how to comment here
Good story but too real. The one thing I did agree on was the news media. Hate it and never watch those talking heads. Sad story that really put me down tonight.

Highly recommend if you like fast paced, great character development and suspense!
Loved how each of the characters were unique, and there was really nothing to prepare you for the climatic ending. I also read the sequel, but this suspenseful novel really threw me for a loop. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You really get to know the characters
A well told story tying all the characters together. The author seemed to know how much to put in each chapter without overdoing it. This was the first in a trilogy. Looking forward th the next two.

Needed an American editor
The book has heart, and I appreciate the diversity of characters and plot lines. But I had to put it down unfinished because, basically, the American characters kept using phrases/perspectives that were blatantly Irish. Because it's set in Kansas, the dissonance was too overwhelming for this reader.

A book that will stay with you
I was not sure what to expect as this is my first time reading anything from this author. I loved the character development -- I was drawn to all of these folks in this small town in middle America. It was a page turner allowing the reader to learn about each character in short, succinct chapters. I was not sure what to expect until I reached a pivotal point in the story (which did shock me). I believe this book will leave readers with many questions and it is the perfect book for book clubs to discuss. I love a good trilogy and cannot wait to read the second book (which I already have purchased). I enjoy books that make us think about life and the decisions we make and this book did not disappoint.

Wow
At first I thought the story was a bit disjointed, it didn't seem to be heading anywhere. But as the characters began to make themselves known I started getting attached to them. No spoilers from me, but the ending floored me. I certainly hope the next book is available, because this one was incredible.

Meh
A lot of plodding through the ramblings of a bunch of characters - several of whom I didn’t care much about - only to be hit with Oh, that’s what this was all about.

Good Story
A good story and well drawn characters, but for me I could see the ending a mile off, hence only 4 stars

Such an important read!
Those unfamiliar with David's work may struggle at the beginning thinking it isn't really going anywhere. Those who have already read his books are chomping at the bit to release the breath of anticipation when we reach the inevitable part of "holy $hit!!, I didnt see that coming!" And you won't see it coming, that's the glory of David B. Lyons and why we'll be hearing his name for many years to come. The Middle Of Middle America has the ultimate in anticipation, but you won't be happy when you get there. You'll stop and you'll pause, and you'll think, and you'll shake your head and you'll wonder what you personally can do to not only change the future but also history. You need to do that part, for everyone's sake.ITS A MUST READ. You'll never see the repetitive "Breaking News" (that isn't really breaking news anymore) in the same way again. You won't just wonder why, you'll wonder who and you'll pause a little longer.Until the next time. Rinse and repeat.

Gripping from start to finish!
Another 5 stars for David B Lyons, whose books I'm obsessed with at the minute. I finished this one a couple of hours ago and immediately started the second in the America Trilogy. This book was absolutely brilliantly written, I've never been so involved in any characters lives for a long time and each chapter had me gripped. As everyone else has said, it's hard to say too much without giving away spoilers - but trust me it's amazing, I can't recommend it highly enough.
