Not Just for Dogs! Check Out this Awesome Cat Result!
Anybody who has ever been owned by a cat immediately recognizes the distinctive caterwauling that can only mean one of two things: either your cat is in heat, or they are about to upchuck. When your cat is a male, it can only mean one thing. After the "meeooOOOOWWWL" comes the "OOOKA OOKA OOKA", which means that either your cat is listening to dubstep, or is attempting to violently eject the contents of his or her stomach. If it's a hairball, may I recommend a hairball remedy (and brushing your cat more often), but if your cat, like mine, has frequent bouts of dinnerus comeupus, then let me recommend this slow feed bowl. It's not just for dogs any more. While cats are known as the smarter as between cats and dogs when it comes to overeating (generally you can leave a big bowl of kibble out for your cat and they won't overeat, whereas a dog generally will), they are not the turtles in the turtle and hare race of "how fast can we eat this stuff?" (Or maybe they are, hard to say here as between the turtle and the hare as one was fast, the other won the race.)In short, some cats may eat too fast, and then they will throw it up. If you're seeing lots of undigested food in your cat's throw-up piles, there is a good chance this is the problem. Or at least part of it.Enter the slow feed "dog" (ahem, and cat!) bowl.Since getting this bowl, and also this one: Outward Hound Fun Feeder Dog Bowl Slow Feederl , the only time our cat has hacked anything up is when he has a hairball. Ok, for those of you who don't have cats, you may not think that's much of a recommendation, but trust me, it is. We're talking it going from nearly every other day, down to barely at all.[*NOTE: The dog is bummed about this, as he considered the cat to be his own personal snack dispenser.]By the way, for those of you who don't grok this, I cannot highly enough recommend the comic strip Get Fuzzy: The Potpourrific Great Big Grab Bag of Get Fuzzy: A Get Fuzzy Treasury And for those of you who *do* grok it, I even *more* highly recommend the comic strip Get Fuzzy: The Potpourrific Great Big Grab Bag of Get Fuzzy: A Get Fuzzy Treasury

Human Approved - Cats Depressed
This has been great for my two boy cats, it really slows them down AND has the added bonus of being totally entertaining to watch for us humans. This slows them down enough that they don't throw up after they eat. My only gripe is that it scoots all over the kitchen, has zero grip on my floor and makes funny sounds when they scoot it. However, chasing down the bowls at feeding time is much better than picking up cat puke, so I'll call it a win anyway,Side note: when we received the first one (bought them at two different times) one of my cats seemed totally depressed once he figured out what the bowl actually way. He would eat a little, get tired and lay down and look totally shattered. He got over it quickly and again, highly entertaining, just thought it was worth putting in. Don't know if he's fully forgiven us for this yet or not.

Works for my cats
I bought this for my greedy cats and was disappointed that it's too deep for them to put their mouth in it. My cats are clever though, and within a minute they figured out how to use their paws to get the kibble out. After they eat their wet food, I put a little dry food in it and it keeps them entertained while preventing them from overeating.

Works great with one downfall.
I ordered two of these bowls, one pink and one turquoise. They came at the same time and in identical packaging. I'm giving the pink bowl one less star because for some reason it does not have the four rubber gripper feet on the bottom of the bowl that keeps it from sliding around on the floor. The turquoise bowl has the four gripper feet and it stays put when our dog eats from that one. Our other dog that got the pink bowl pushes it all over the place while eating from it. That said, both bowls definitely provide a deterrent for the gobbler.

Perfect for fast eaters & small dogs
This was perfect for my 4 pound Chihuahua. Initially it seemed too big for her and she was not at all happy with it BUT a hungry dog finds a way (she even steps into it sometimes). She's so used to it now. I got this because she was eating so fast, would vomit, then immediately go into a seizure. So great news is this bowl forces her to eat slowly. we fixed the problem without a huge unnecessary vet bill. Everyone wins! My 12 pound chihuahua also likes it too if she leaves any food behind!

great option for my cats
I bought these bowls for my cats because one of them eats too fast and was getting sick from scarfing down his food... the first week that i fed them from the bowls, they just looked at me like WTF. But eventually, they got hungry and started making the effort and overall i'm pretty pleased with the bowls. I do wish they had a slow feeder for cats because this one is huge and too deep for my kitties, so i feel like i'm always topping off their food.

Works Okay, but Not Great
I was hoping this would slow down the food intake of my dogs, but it didn't work. It's possible because they are small dogs that the gaps between the ridges weren't enough to slow them down. Maybe the bowl would slow down a big dog, but I'm not sure. Overall it's an okay bowl, but not great.

Didn't realize how small it was until it arrived. only holds about a cup of food which is great for puppies but as they get older with larger portions [for larger dogs of course] will not work. Ordered another bigger bowl. this would be good for smaller dogs.
