Top of the line!
This is a top of the line caulk gun for hard to use adhesive or thick caulk for things like cement repair. All I had ever used was the $5 caulk guns which is okay for most around the house uses. I needed one for repair work on a cinder block building prior to painting. I soon discovered that the $5 caulk gun was no match for a job that size or for the material I was using to make the repair. This gun fit the bill. No complaints! Why 3 stars? To get it a little cheaper, I bought used from Amazon Warehouse, which I have done several times and continue to do so. When it arrived it had dried caulking all over it and missing some hardware, probably why it was returned. So I fixed it and cleaned it up and it’s a great gun. A little disappointed in Amazon Warehouse on this one.

This really should be the best but it's a let down
As someone who works in construction and does a lot of caulking everyday this gun had to many problems. Cox is normally the best in the industry but the qc in the product fails. Out of the box it worked great, it seemed very quality and worked well. At the end of the first week, it quit working. Made a simple return thought it was fluke thing. The replacement worked well but now after a month of use, I noticed the 2 of the 3 nuts on the back of gun had loosened and fallen off. The gun is now useless. I'd expect better from this company and I expect a professional grade tool to hold up. I'm pretty disappointed, my old abc green machine held up for 2 years. This should not happen with this quality of tool.

Built like a tank
This caulk gun is built like a tank. I don't use caulk guns too often, but nevertheless I've seen more than one fail under normal use, if normal use is a real thing. The length of the gun is 16 or 17 gauge steel with ABS support bands. A double layer of 12 gauge steel supports the business end of the canister. The handle parts are cast, including a lovely "MADE IN ENGLAND". The ratcheting mechanism is made of machined parts. If you get one be sure to lubricate the pivot points before use (there is a tag on the plunger rod indicating where to lubricate and how often). It cuts down on noise and likely improves durability. The action is very smooth, especially when properly lubricated. The 26:1 mechanical advantage is nice to have, but comes at the cost of speed. COX also makes models with less mechanical advantage.

Best caulking gun I have ever owned
I have purchased 11 caulking guns over the past 20 years from the big box stores. they all have done the job . I wanted something better than wat was offered at the big box retail. I read / watched several reviews on caulking guns and purchased this unit as it was mentioned often. I have used the gun multiple times and this is best caulk gun I have ever used. with the quality of construction this will likely be the last on I will need to purchase.pros- little force required for caulking- minimal caulk dribble- durableCon- a little heaver then the box store units .... this is a con that I am willing to live with considering the ease of use

Item received not as pictured or described
Tool that I received did not have "Made in England" cast on the handle. If fact, I could find no indication on the tool itself where this tool was manufactured. Listing reads Made in UK. Nothing on the tool itself. I returned it.

Tip reduces tube blowouts
As described, very high leverage indeed. All the qualities you would hope for in a professional caulk gun. Most notable quality:The tip of the gun, which gets all the pressure from the tube, is not only sturdier than I am used to but it also does not have any lip to hold the tube in place (because the plastic holders in the middle do that job) so it is much easier to insert and remove tubes. The sturdiness of the tip also prevents uneven pressure that cause non-plastic tubes to split apart.

COX 41004-2T Ascot Caulking Gun
This is a real smooth caulking gun. The thrust ratio provided by this gun is definitely noticeable when your dispensing the product of your choice. I recently repaired a gutter leak using this gun to apply the gutter sealant and did not have any problems whatsoever during the repair process. The caulking gun barrel can actually rotate, in order to allow you to re-position your tip on the caulking tube without constantly having to rotate your hands into different positions while you work. Be prepared though to open your tube of caulk with an alternate puncture tool, as this gun does not have a built in puncture tool.

I was so wrong
I have used this product 3 or 4 times. In my previous uses, I had finished my work without tightening the silicones. During the last use, I squeezed the silicone fully. But I couldn't retract the drive rod again. I made a big mistake spending money on this product. Don't be wrong like me and don't give money. It doesn't work anymore.
