As an aspiring DJ, I purchased this for mounting lights and doing weddings/parties as needed. I had purchased a different tree previously that was so poorly made that it couldn't even be put together (literally, the arms did not fit into the sockets properly and not even the Guitar Center sales rep could get it to work). This one, on the other hand, is extremely easy to put together and set up. I use it to mount 4 lights and it holds them with ease. I've also mounted 3 lights and a large bubble machine on it, but I'll never mount a bubble machine to it again, because getting the bubble machine back down off it was a mess - BUT that was the fault of the bubble machine, not the light stand. Putting the lights on and then lifting them up can be a bit of a challenge by myself, but I can do it. So if you are by yourself, don't let that scare you unless you are a little bit muscle challenged (not trying to be funny). Once the lights are on and you lift them up, there is a locking mechanism that you just turn to lock it in place and you are good to go. At the end of the night, you turn it the opposite direction and it unlocks and you can lower it back down and dismantle everything. Oh, and did I mention the bag that comes with it? It is a high quality canvas bag, I must say. I use it to carry this light tree AND two speaker stands without issue. Plus, I'm also able to throw some power cords and other necessities in there, too. The bag is high quality and I've had both items for years now (I bought this back in Dec of 2014 before doing my first wedding) and they are both still going strong. I would DEFINITELY recommend this product over the other, inferior, comparable products, that are out there on the market.
