FreemanP2238US Pneumatic 22-Gauge 5/8" Upholstery Stapler

Not "extended nose" and just doesn't work.
Unfortunately I didn't even open this until the day after the return window closed. It does NOT have an extended nose, which is what I purchased it for. I have a small upholstery shop and usually use a SureBonder pneumatic stapler. I love it but I wanted a long nose model for tighter spaces. This seemed like a great deal, but it turns out not to be a long nosed stapler with an "extended nose" as indicated in the description. It's longer than the flat nose of a manual stapler, but for a pneumatic model, it had the standard length nose.I followed the directions, used quality staples, oiled it, set the air pressure correctly, and all that. I used it over a 4 day period. Some days I shot a few hundred staples, and others I only shot a few. From day one, it would not drive staples all the way in most of the time. I had to hammer many of them in after stapling. Others I just had to pull. That problem just got worse and by day 4, only about 1 in 10 staples would even get deep enough to hammer in the rest of the way. I checked all connections and settings and began shopping for a new air compressor thinking that must be the problem. Before buying a new compressor, I put my SureBonder back on and it worked perfectly. Same staples, same compressor, same hoses, same user...same everything.I switched the staplers out back and forth and few times to make sure it wasn't just and fluke. It wasn't. This one just doesn't work. I had my husband try it out and try to fix it. He didn't have any luck either and said he believes it has some kind of leak inside.I gave it a star for the light weight, the safety mechanism, and the ease of loading. Although I like the light weight, it isn't very comfortable in my hand and is too small to comfortably pull the trigger. It is probably perfect for someone with small hands though.I may have just gotten a lemon. I noticed other users have rated it well, but I believe some of those good reviews were rating a pneumatic stapler compared to a manual one. As someone who has experience with several models of pneumatic staplers, I believe that even if I had gotten a working stapler, it doesn't compare with well to other models. It feels cheap and isn't comfortable in my hand at all and the nose is not extended as advertised. While it's a little less expensive than the SureBonder, the savings aren't worth it at all (and wouldn't be even if I'd gotten a working one). Even if you're just looking for a stapler to use rarely, I would spend a little more and get something more comfortable and reliable.

Poor trigger design
Around the trigger there is a spring and an L shaped piece that acts as a safety. The spring and the L shaped piece fall off all the time and we are constantly looking for it. Without the spring the trigger wont return to the original ready position. Otherwise this is a great stapler...just a really poor trigger safety design.

Why did I wait so long to get one of these ?
Wow, I found this product to be a great find. I have been using clumsy manual staplers and electric staplers for years doing my upholstery work.Never again !! I hooked this up , read the instructions and warnings (!) and went right to work. Easy to load with staples, easy to adjust the pressure, fast discharge. Locking mechanism is easily engaged to keep you from triggering a staple when you don't intend to. No need to buy an expensive and huge air compressor... any compressor that will give you at least 60 psi will work fine. I use a 3 lb pancake compressor from Harbor Freight.Great balance of weight in your hand keeps it from getting tired. Adjustable air discharge director works great.

Unless you only need it once pay for trusted name brands.
Worked great first time out. Sat for about a week then began jamming in the "fired" position and won't reset without air pressure removed EVERY shot. Rebuilt a brand new tool on it's second use. Still occasionally jams.

Excellent air stapler for re-upholstery projects
I used this to re-cover a set of dining room chairs and didn't have any issues with the staple gun. I set the regulator to 80 psi and it ran every staple in properly.Freeman Tools is owned by Prime Global Products, which is a major manufacturer of air tools; definitely not some generic junk. The feel and quality of this stapler is well worth the price.

Nice tool
Had to send two back for feed problems, but the company seemed sincerely interested in seeing that I got what I needed. My previous stapler was a high quality professional tool that was old and parts no long existed. Needed an inexpensive replacement to finish a upholstery job I was in the middle of, and this tool fit the bill well. I won’t be using it much.

Great tool for the price, but not the tool for every job.
We use a lot of these here in our shop. Typically BEA, or other industrial guns. You certainly get what you pay for in this gun, but its not up for industrial use.Would I recommend it for someone who needs to reupholster a few pieces of furniture, or who wants to use it for projects around the house. Yes, this is the perfect gun at a fantastic price. If you're going to be shooting thousands of staples a day, day in and day out....not so much

Fantastic purchase. Made everything significantly easier
Reupholstering a couch (first timer effort) using an electric stapler without an extended nose. When it came time to attach a tacking strip it was nearly impossible. Saw this on Amazon and purchased it (I had a small compressor). Wow! What a difference. Fantastic purchase. Made everything significantly easier. As for longevity....that is TBD. Just starting a chair this week.

Worked beautifully for about 20 minutes
I purchased this upholstery gun a year ago and finally used it for the first time today. After about 20 minutes, it just stopped firing. Air started leaking out the front and now I can no longer use it. There doesn’t appear to be any kind of warranty ( it’s been almost a year). I don’t know how to fix it and I’m incredibly disappointed. Don’t buy this product

Nice gun
Just right for upholstery. Gun is small and delivers staples fast and powerfully. Its easy to load staples(i used grex 22 gauge) but the mechanism for closing the loading bay is annoying as it requires holding the lever while closing. There is no safety so don't shoot your eye out.

Staples don't push in all the way-would not recommend!
I purchased this stapler for just a few small upholstery products, so the price was in the right range. Unfortunately nine times out of ten the staple doesn't go in even half the way. I purchased several different brands of staples including the Freeman brand. That didn't make a difference. I also tried various pressure adjustments which didn't make a difference either. I am currently in the process of trying to send it back for warranty. I see several good reviews so not sure why this one is such a lemon.
