Snapped (Tracers Series Book 4)

Snapped
Talk about starting out with action right from the start. Sophie is on her way to sign up for college classes to help enhance her resume in the hopes of getting a promotion at the Delphi Center from receptionist into their PR department. As she makes her way across campus a gunman opens fire into the crowd of students and faculty. People are scrambling to get out of the way, and as Sophie finds a hiding spot, she sees a pregnant woman who was hit and lay dying while her young daughter sits there watching and crying. For as many great scenes and moments that are in this book, that's one that will stick with me. The initial randomness of the shooting is quickly investigated and Sophie's certain that more people were behind this than just the shooter, who killed himself once the cops located him on campus.Jonah's on the case and his protective streak is running high with Sophie being caught in the middle. We first got a little bit of their story in UNFORGIVABLE, book 3 in the Tracers series, and we find out that their relationship never really got off the ground, so to speak. But the sparks are definitely there and as the case unfolds and Sophie finds herself looking over her shoulder at every turn, Jonah's there to make sense of the clues that are coming in and help Sophie stay safe. The pacing of the story was fantastic. It starts out with a bang and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It's a great blend of action/suspense balanced so well with Sophie and Jonah's relationship. It never felt overloaded with action, but when the enemy attempted to tie up all the loose ends (aka Sophie) to complete his mission, I felt right in the middle of the scenes with Sophie as she dealt with all the craziness happening in her life. Never mind the fact that she was still trying to put her life back together from an attack that happened a few months back. Jonah was there for her then, he's there for her now and he'll do anything in his power to make sure she's protected.I love that Sophie goes to Jonah when she needs to feel safe. When she's attacked outside her apartment, the first safe place she thinks of is Jonah's house, forget the fact that he's not even there, it was where she needed to be. They never really fought the attraction between them, but when Sophie becomes a very important witness to the entire investigation, Jonah has to tread carefully and not get as close to Sophie as he really wants to be until the case is wrapped up. But their relationship continued to grow stronger the more they were together and they came to need each other so much.********** "You're not really still mad at me, are you?" "Very." He brushed the hair out of her eyes. "Really?" She nodded, and the hurt on her face made his chest tighten. "Sophie." He kissed her forehead. "I need you to forgive me." She looked at him for a long moment and he waited, anxious. He could hardly breathe for wanting this girl, and he realized he'd never had so much riding on one apology. "I'll think about it," she finally said, and leaned forward to kiss him.**********One thing that I've always enjoyed about each Tracer's book are the solid stories the supporting characters get. We not only get caught up with past characters, in this case especially Mia and Ric, but we get great introductions to the characters we'll be getting to read about in the future. Detective Allison Doyle has a strong role and we find out just enough about her to lead us into her book which will be up next.I loved everything about this book and it's a big must read for all romantic suspense fans. The series is one of my favorites and I think this story is the best of the bunch so far. All the separate pieces and characters flowed together so well and even though I was cursing Laura Griffin for keeping me up WAY past my bedtime, I simply couldn't put the book down. And I love when that happens.Blog Rating: 4.5/5 stars

SNAPPED by Laura Griffin (Tracers Book #4)
Rating: 4.5 StarsSNAPPED is one story that I am happy to say actually lived up to my expectations. My only issue would be with the fact that it took a while for the romance to get off the ground, but otherwise it had everything I look for in a romantic suspense. The way the last book ended I really thought Sophie and Jonah would already have an ongoing relationship at the start of this story so I was surprised to learn that they weren't together. Their sexual tension and chemistry was still off the charts though and pretty explosive, especially once they give in to their mutual and long-held desire.I also adored Sophie who has to be one of the unluckiest ladies to ever live, poor thing! I loved her sass and her no nonsense attitude, but also that she was compassionate and let her vulnerability shine through at times too. She cracked me up more than once and reminded me a little of my sisters and I in our younger days. Jonah on the other hand did tick me off on occasion, but then I would witness this giant tough guy be so caring and gentle toward Sophie that I'd find my heart melting and forgive him nearly anything. Then there was the mystery which was way more complicated than it ever appeared to be, and the suspense which had me on the edge of my seat. Honestly, the entire story was an unpredictable thrill ride that constantly kept me guessing and I never wanted to end. Rarely do I fork up almost eight bucks for a kindle book but I'm so glad I took a chance and did just that. It was worth every cent I paid for it and I've no regrets whatsoever. It is definitely my favorite of the series so far and I'm not only looking forward to the next one, but I'll probably even pay another eight dollars for the pleasure =)Pages & Kindle Locations: The story ended at 96% on page 401 and location 4487.

Reread!
This is a second read of this book for me. I've read almost all of Laura Griffin books, but disliked only her early works (Glass sisters and Borderline series) and the last one, Exposed.I got completely caught up in the Tracers series, I honestly can't get enough. However, I read them randomly, but it might be easier to connect with characters if it would have been done right the first time. So my recommendation is to start with Tracers series (trilogy) if you want to get to know the main characters, but if you don't want to read all 3 books, the Unforgivable will give you the background of Sophie and Jonah's relationship. They go back one season, when Jonah's sharp instincts saved Sophie from being the next victim of a sadistic killer. Sophie's life after this event changed drastically, she no longer pursued her singing career, but rather stayed in the shadows. Despite this trauma, she remains strong, and decides to enroll into afternoon classes and make something more of life than answering phones at the reception desk. Her sharp mind and fearless nature, combined with stubborness and sexy looks has been hard to resist for Jonah, who is struggling to solve the campus shooting case and get to terms with his feelings for her, which have been building upever since that harrowing winter event. I love the fact that both characters started unveiling before this book. I remember the first time I read Snapped, it was a bit hard to grasp the level of their friendship. The chemistry was there, but their mutual history was missing. And speaking of chemistry, you'll get plenty of it - what else can you expect from a 6ft4 badass sniper trained cop and a smart, headstrong, 5.11 leggy bombshell? Yeah, you guessed it. :)I would, however, like to see the ballistics guy, Scott Black, to get his own story. He's good material: ex SEAL, 6f4 of pure muscle, expert in ballistics, works at renowned Delphy center... Well, I can think of a few scenarios for an intriguing plot with him as the main character. But that's just me and I dream a lot.

Very worth while!
This was my third Laura Griffin novel and I am happy to report that it surpassed my expectations by far. I have to disagree with a previous review that claims that Griffin's main characters in 'Snapped' are under-developed. I think some readers may expect a sharper focus on the romance in Griffin's novels, but personally I very much appreciate her ability to write a romantic suspense novel where the romance does not drown out the crime to be investigated. Griffin has a sharp eye for detail and knows how to craft a well-paced plot with just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you craving more. Don't miss out on the 'Tracers' series if you're a fan of a well-written romantic suspense novel that is not on the cheesy side. To me Griffin is one of the most promising voices in romantic suspense at the moment, and I will most certainly purchase more books by her.
