Another great book!
Where has the day gone?? One minute I was sitting with my morning coffee and the dog enjoying the dappled light. Then next I look up its dark. The book FINISHED on my lap.🙈🙈🤣( I promise I did take the dog for her walk🤣).I found one of the earlier books in a charity shop and although it's not my usual style, bought it and started it one evening. The characters pulled me into their world with a smile, laugh or a cry. DC Jack Logan had arrived in my life. The story line was great and held me right to the end.As you can imagine I then pulled up amazon and found a whole stack of them. My heat sang , my bank account groaned but it was no use I NEEDED MORE!!I'm now working my way through and have just finished 'Colder than the grave'.I think this is my favourite book so far. ( I finished it in one day🙈🙈). If a book can hold you when let's face it we have things to do) then it says alot about the story. Thank you.

Another cracker of a storyline
Great read. Strong characters with a twist at the end that I wasn't expecting at all. Hots of Scottish humour and banter as usual and the cameo spot for Bob Hoon that is always a breath of fresh air. Well recommended.

Colder Than The Grave
I Just love these books , the humour through them is interminable - I love the wee dog - he's adorable. Another shock ending who'd have thought that ! This book is particularly gripping and I couldn't wait to get back to it and read more . Happens I've read right through it and I can't wait to get to grips with the next one, whichever it might be.

very very good
I love the dci logan series and this is no exception good plot great characters who have developed as the series has gone on.The humour in these books is also very well done as interaction between characters keeps you laughing and smiling all the way through as well as actually worrying about them, then of coarse there is Bob Hoon who fully deserves a book or books of his own [and he has] love him or hate him he is larger than life and this book leads nicely to his first book well done j d Kirk..

Great structure which ties together some plot strands which have been running through several books
Finally, I've caught up.... This is the last Jack Logan book currently in print that I hadn't read but I know there is another due in a couple of weeks so wanted to be ready. These books have all been fantastic so far and I started this with high expectations. There are 376 pages split into 49 chapters. The story picks up straight from the last book with Olivia fretting about the discovery in her kitchen and Tyler recovering from his operation. From the start, the reader is ahead of the team but not very far and they are catching up all the time. Jokes reappear from the many previous novels and reading the books in order is the best way to get the full experience of this series. I can't help but laugh out loud at the return of the "walking cadaver" and can't wait for a small glance into Bob Hoon's world with his wonderful, sweary dialogue. At the start, a few of the team are distracted but the new case brings them together as strongly as ever. This case is probably more personal to the whole team than in any of the previous books and it's good to see how Det Super Mitchell handles the close involvement of Logan and Tyler - but then unsurprising (for dramatic effect and entertainment value) hoe they both react. There is a danger, in this plot, of the author going "Ian Fleming" with a disfigured villain getting victims into his lair, telling them they are going to die but then not killing them straightaway.I get slightly irritated about a few procedural points, for example, Logan visits Bosco in prison and has his mobile during the interview which just doesn't happen - useful for a plot point and maybe damaged a little credibility but I'm prepared to go with it!JD Kirk has chosen to ignore the Covid effects on society and that works to the book's advantage. Whilst we know this is set in the present day it is not a specific year so will not age badly.Connections made several books back resurface and I can't help but wonder how many books ahead the author plans with seeds constantly being sown for future plotlines. As the action ramps up the tension builds and each chapter ends with a cliff hanger that keeps you tied in.The ending is amazing as always with plenty of closure on stories that have been running for some time. This is a highly personal story for the people on the investigation team so I hope the JD Kirk goes easy on them in the next book but I suspect he won't!!

Another belter
A masterpiece of a thriller. Just the right balance of danger, dark humour and well thought out characters. J D Kirk doesn't dwell on scenery, architecture, drawn out descriptions like others do. He's straight in there with the nitty gritty, the danger, the bravery, the loyalties, the utter evil of the villains.Even introduced a wee scrappy mongrel into the mix. What's not to love?

What a humdinger of story!
I thought this was going to be another great story from JD Kirk but man, oh, man. What a whirlwind of excitement. Surprise villain as well, I didn't see that coming. And throw in the dog! Can we keep him please Jack?? I can't wait to start the next one. Thanks JD.

If you can’t stand books that you cannot put down, twists and turns that keep you thinking, suspense that has you on edge, humour that has you holding your gut… then you should not read this book.JD continues to amaze. Continues to develop one of the best cast of characters in any series. After binge reading the series, now in queue for his next.Thank you sir for penning this series!

Sensationell!
Sehr empfehlenswert!Ich freue mich auf das Nächste :)

A Brilliant Series
I love these books! Kirk is an excellent writer...which is rare these days...and has an expert way with words. The characters have depth and I looked forward to finding out what they were up to each book. Great storylines, but best of all is the laugh out loud humour, especially the dialogue. Kirk has become one of my favourite writers and Jack Logan and co my favourite characters. Please let be more!
